Humans are more concerned with having than being.
Ouch. Season over before it’s even started you’d think. Awful luck
Gale and cas have had some terrible luck these past few years.
Wish him all the best with his recovery.
Reading on the cas forum this morning, they are saying Roberts and Ellis won't start the season either? Could be a tough start for them
Ellis out for four months not sure what's wrong with Ben Roberts rotten look for gale big pressure on young trueman and whoever plays with him might be mcshane
Hard luck that. Always have to wonder if he will get back to his old self having played so little rugby for such a long time.
If you were Powell and you knew you would be without three experienced half backs for the start of the season you would be scouring SL and the Championship for an experienced replacement - at least in the short term.
Could see Wigan loaning them Shorrocks now we are not running a reserve team.

Salary cap relief granted to Cas following Gale's season ending injury. Hidden at the end of the above article. Does anyone know the rules on this? Has it always been there but rarely invoked or is it at the RFL 's discretion? Interesting.

Heard this morning cas were thinking of making a cash offer for fages or had made one not sure if there's anything in it or not
They have now lost Ellis for up to 6 months as well.
My thoughts exactly Webbo. The conspiracy theorist in me wonders why the news was hidden in the body of another article. I'm genuinely interested in the rules on this. If the season hasn't started does the club get 100% relief; does it diminish on a sliding scale depending on the number of games played before injury; is there a point of no return where no compensation can be granted? Is it new this season and if not why did we not use it for big Al?

You can find the full rules here
As you could expect these are complex and convoluted, but only a certain number of players are calculated against the salary cap. You can ask for permission to go over the salary cap if a player is injured and you need to bring in another player who will then cause you to breach the salary cap.
I would interpret that as bringing forward an internal player, however that isn't stated and could mean that a club would sign another player.
There appears to be a distinct difference in that the injured players wages are still on the salary cap, but the RFL agreement is that the club can now go over the salary cap by £xx, where £xx is the amount requested by the club to go over the salary cap.
I cannot find anything in the link that says you can remove a player who was signed on at the club at the time of presenting your salary cap position to the RFL for the coming season, without going through the process of getting the full allowance of the injured players salary as the £xx amount you can break the salary cap by
I am sure this isn't the first time it has happened though. I am sure i recall a team getting an exemption though can't remember who it was.

Forty20 podcast said that there were rumours that Richardson is off to Widnes on loan. Can’t see it myself.
