I take it by Dec you mean Dec Patton?
I’d be amazed if Patton plays on at Warrington for a further 3 years taking him into his latter 20’s as third choice, spending most of his time out of the halves. Imagine he will move on to further his career ala Lee Briers

Declan Donnelly has more chance of leading the ‘Wolfs’ to glory over the next 3 years.

I said the same. Its Jason Hooper all over. I like Widdop as a player and hope he makes a full recovery. Its funny that Warrington signed a dud though

Shame for Widdop, classy player. 3 shoulder Ops in as many years is tough for any athlete.

Shoulders are like no other joint. Its the reason Stanky and Hooper retired. Its hard to walk with a limp if your knee is bad. Imagine if your shoulder is goosed and you can’t hug your kids or even make a brew.

All about the individual player, some of the best players to play our game continue playing with shoulder injuries. It’s all about managing the injury properly and a bit of luck.

Hope Wanky don't have a get-out clause on his contract (although they seem to have special Salary Cap dispensation anyway)

Most complex joint in the body, lots of nerves in the sheath around the shoulder as well as the usual ligaments and muscles, not a lot of orthapeadic surgeons will operate on shoulders, almost all will do hip replacements and acl reconstructions, that tells you all you need to know.

Third time it's happened now so must be a question mark over how many times you try to fix it.

I agree completely, and luck plays a huge part.

Any player has an obligation to his own well-being and that of his family. I remember talking to Wello about his hip and he said he could hardly walk on a Monday after games, and the thought of not being able to kick a ball around with his kids prompted him to call it a day.

Once you do your shoulder in, it's only a matter of time before retirement heads into view.

Did Fairleigh have to retire with a similar problem, can't remember who the player was who caused it. I know Craig Smith finished the career of Stankevitch,

Hi Wolfie. I was reading on the Wolves forum last night that RedVee posters have found the Widdop injury a source of fun! Could you please rectify that total disregard of the facts! Only one poster has said something about him that poked fun at his signing not his injury. The posts are generally sympathetic to his setback and wish him well.

It's a bit hazy but I think Barrie McDermott caused the original injury agains Leeds and then a week or two later in the playoffs against Hull Fairleigh hurt it again and had to leave the field. That was the end of his career and our season iirc.
