Default 19 man squad v Catalans

Justin Holbrook will select his 17 from:

    1. Jonny Lomax, 2. Tommy Makinson, 4. Mark Percival, 5. Adam Swift, 6. Theo Fages, 7. Matty Smith, 9. James Roby, 10. Kyle Amor, 11. Zeb Taia, 12. Jon Wilkin, 13. Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook, 14. I imagine Makinson at centre and Swift back in on the wing. Lees comes in for Peyroux. Smith and Costello miss out.

Barba, Swift, Makinson, Percival, Grace, Lomax, Richardson, Amor, Roby, Thompson, Knowles, Taia, Wilkin

    Fages, LMS, Douglas, Lees

Got to be Smith and Costello not playing. My slight concern is Tommy moving to centre, but then again he spent a lot of the last game coming inside.

I pray JH does not do an off the wall selection (Matty Smith) for some unexplained reason...

I think Makinson is fine in the centres. The main problem with moving him is that it leaves you with two wingers who, while both very effective in other ways, each have mistakes in them.

The only way he could accommodate Smith is by moving Lomax to the 3/4 which, given the way Lomax has been playing, would be crazy. I'd be amazed if Smith or Costello are in the 17.

My statement was more panic than logic. As above surprised Morgan not fit and at same time thought Swift would not be fit.

Happy enough with Tommy at centre. He’s certainly never let us down there and gives him more ball to run with at their big lads on the fringes

Slight concern with Grace under high ball, so I hope Percy helps out in that department. When Grace and Barba are the two waiting for a high ball in the corner I do get worried.

I think the die was cast for Smith after that game. JH said it was a tough decision at the time but went with experience.

Think that will be Drinkwater’s principle tactic - Tierney isn’t the tallest winger though

Those were my thoughts, Morgan seems to be injury prone these days, thought Swift groin was a couple of weeks maybe it was just a "ball squeeze" in the wigan game.

The concern over our wingers/full back back with the high ball is just the same for Catalans.

I think this 17 would be most peoples selection.

Drinkwater is a big threat, hope we can control him on Sunday.

Why don’t we drop Richardson and play Smith while it’s such a big game

Yeah I think so mate. I won't be claiming any tactical genius for putting that 17 together!

Didn't realise this. Cause for concern and whilst I don't think any have been really serious there is a duty of care needed by the club to the player. Perhaps he should stand down for a few weeks.

Interesting point this. I've just read that Hull are considering shutting Albert Kelly down for 2018 due to his concussion issues. He's also on his 3rd concussion of the season. I suppose they can afford to not play him with their season as good as over.

Shows how important it is for referees to clamp down on head highs; it would be easy to shut down key players with a few ‘accidental’ knocks like that.
