Try to win the first two and rest everyone for the next five?

If we win on Sunday I would certainly expect us to rest anyone with the slightest knock v Wakey but as you say, winning the first two would mean we could rest and rotate after Wembley (hopefully) meaning everyone would be fresh for the playoffs.

I don't really buy into the theory that winning the cup has a knock on effect in terms of winning the grand final, but certainly with the cushion we have we just be able to have a great shot at winning both.

I would personally just carry on with squad as it is at rotate as needed, Wouldn't change a winning side

Anyone with niggles we rest. I’m not a fan of resting just because and I get the impression JH is not. That said if we are in a strong position I would certainly allow some players not to travel to Catalans who are ok with a rest. Roby. Wilkin etc.

I'm in Barcelona on 8th Sept.

Happy days, how easy is it to make the trip up?

Easy - train or hire car - couple of hours

Maybe not rest 'everyone' but I'd be looking to rest a fair few.

However, focus is on Sunday and nothing else for me for now.

I'd much rather win the Cup than the League this time, been 10 years

If we get to the CC Final then the Wigan home game will be a tough one. Hopefully we should have enough in the tank to beat Huddersfield and Wakey.

I agree. I’m not thinking of the Qualifers and all the implications to much. It’s all about Sunday. In truth unless we have a massive implosion we should get the points needed to stay top or at worse 2nd.
Re going to Catalans I’m undecided about going. It might be a weakened squad and a pointless game in some respects. Peak season as well.

It is a 4 hour drive from Barcelona to Perpignan. Haven't triwd the train

I agree. I think we have got a really good vibe going at the club largely because we're in the habit of winning. There's a danger we could lose that if we start fielding weakened teams. Having said that, we are in a position to slightly lower our threshold of when we consider a player fit to play - if a player is 50/50 or even 60/40 we have the luxury of giving them a week off, but I wouldn't consider leaving players out purely for the sake of a rest.

I don't think we're going to get any easy games in Super 8s.

Even the teams that can't make the top 4 will raise their game against us to prove that they can compete against the league leaders.

Assuming we finish top two, we'd have 3 out of the last 4 games before Old Trafford at home. Get the momentum built.

I take it the last 3 games haven’t been selected by Sky yet which is why the Warrington game is shown as untelevised?

Correct mate. Just rounds 1-4 of the Super 8's have been selected by SKY so far.

You need to check on the trains. If it is still on the summer timetable you very often need a reservation. The last train from Perp to BCN is normally 21.40. but if it is the winter timetable the last train leaves Perp before the end of the game.

The real danger for us is having top spot in the bag 3 games into the super 8s then struggling to get motivated/maintain intensity for the last 3 or 4 games. We need to go into the Old Trafford semi in good form. It will be interesting to see how the coaching staff manage the squad over the next few months.
Personally i’d get this week out of the way, then carry on as normal over the following 2 weeks so that (hopefully) we get to Wembley in good form. Then in the 2 rounds following Wembley rotate the squad giving players a rest. After that get back to normal picking our best 1-17 giving us 3 rounds of the super 8s to get in shape and clicking ready for the home semi final in October.

I'd agree with that. Putting in a couple of young lads keen to impress, might negate any lack of motivation.

Not sure when you last did it, but the border has now been removed completely.

No easy ones in that lot. The squad has a whole will be key in the 8's
