    Default Super 8 fixtures

Assuming Castleford beat Widnes on Sunday....

    Saints Super 8 Fixtures are:

HOME: Wigan, Castleford, Huddersfield and Hull FC

    AWAY; Warrington, Catalans and Wakefield

Should Cas lose, the Cas/Wire games would flip!

Game dates released next Wednesday lunchtime

Yes about time we have got a game to go to in the summer instead of getting drawn in the winter every season

    When are the fixtures announced?

I think that’s just who we play home and away, not the order of play.
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.

If we can quickly win 2 of our games we can start to use the whole squad by rotating 3 players in the remaining games. I expect Smith, Costello and Ashworth etc will get a few games.

Hopefully also Walmsley to be putting in an appearance in the last 2 games.

Interesting that only the top 4 have a winning record this year after 23 rounds. We really should just go to a top 4 play off now and ditch the "Super" 8s

It’s such a difficult balance between keeping players in good shape and keeping the winning momentum. I think you’re right though, maybe 3 or so players a week rested means they’ll all get time to freshen up, rather than wholesale weeks off where we seem to come back in a semi holiday mode

Ideally win our first game and we are not under pressure for the rest of the fixtures, the last 2 games we can go back to our original first choice 17.

Cas last season lost momentum and I,m not sure if Powell handled that well, Holbrook however seems to be smarter and gets the balance right.

Don’t think we’re under pressure to win any games really. Lose all 7 and we’ll still finish top. The important thing is performances so we don’t go into a Semi cold or on a downturn of form

I agree to some extent, however a sprinkling of losses will plant a few seeds of self doubt.

I actually think Holbrook will play his strongest team and will only rest players with niggles, he’s done that consistently so you have to trust him I suppose.

You run the risk of fatigue but only the coaching staff know if that’s an issue as it all unfolds. Many teams who have got to Wembley have found it hard to lift themselves again so it’ll be interesting if we do win next Sunday how they manage that

Would be tough to play the 1st Super 8 game on the Thursday after Sunday’s semi-final. 4 day turnaround?

It's difficult to get the balance right when you have already won the shield and still have games to play before the semis if you keep picking your best side every week and you get a couple of injuries to key players that mean they miss the semi final people will say why didn't you rest players in matches that didn't mean anything

I agree with you, but Ralph Rimmer this week saying, the structure cannot change before 2021 without RFL approval.
I don't whether the RFL are digging their heels in or whether he is just trying to make it look as though he has some authority.
I think the sticking point maybe the SKY deal which I assume is with the RFL. You would think that the RFL will go along with most of what SL wants, or risk a very acrimonious split in 2021.

We can't rule that out and its worse that its likely a home game with the opposition not being involved in the semi final. And to put the icing on the cake we get James Child to make it more interesting.

It really doesn't matter we can rotate players big time.
