If they are injured then I agree about recovery, if they are fatigued then whether you say rest or recovery just seems like semantics.

Only managed to see it on TV again today, it looked to me like Barba had told the staff he wasn't right, but they kept him on a bit long, when he knocks on he stares toward the bench.. Holbrook alluded to the fact I know, but clearly could do with a week off if not right

Barba has looked a bit off for a good few weeks now, his whole body language seems to suggest he's not enjoying his game as much at the minute.

Hopefully he's just been carrying a knock and it's nothing more.

Yes but the Eagles were 4-30 down at half time and eventually lost 24-46. Smith doesn't appear to have had a good game if the twitter feeds are true?

I hope he does come in at centre, or to strengthen the back line as Saints put it. But it cannot be ruled out that by the time he comes he will go in as fullback. If, and I admit it is an if, Barba moves on, then he's a great option. He's full back and captain for Fiji.

His coach for the Bati at the time, Mike Potter, another full back, said thats his best position and he said he's a great captain? We will soon see were he goes when he arrives.

Swift got MOM on the Sheffield end. I'm told Smith looked miles off the pace though.

The swagger and smile has gone something isn't right and a injury wouldn't do that he's had his head turned. He won't be here next year so let's hope he can deliver silverware

Of course an injury can wipe a smile off a player’s face and turn everything into a grimace. Playing through an injury is frustrating on many many levels, but even just the pain management (especially for someone who makes the breaks Barba does - pain management can be near unbearable). By contrast he has a massive grin in the couple of in gym videos that’s been put out in the last few weeks.

Can we please stop just assuming the worst and using every microscopic detail to suggest “his head has been turned”? Read McManus in the League Express last week.

Exactly, it seems to me like some fans believe the nonsense talked outside the club and want something to moan about.

    Quite right

Looked happy enough, up in Cumbria with Amor and Roby yesterday.. I'm sure he's not the first person to be annoyed at work

Said the same myself. He was probably more annoyed with himself that he was unable to give his best. Like you say, he is not the first person to kick the water bottles over

Col81 once said a bad word when the stabilisers on his bike broke.

Smith not in the squad which has just been announced is that significant do we think?

Only thing is shows is unless we have big injury issues Smith is well and truly surplus to requirements.

Have a look at what exactly? They wouldn't mention it before it was announced so what are we looking for/at?

He's taking a special Birchall's pie order to Gary 'Wheels' Wheeler, together with the sad news that the Charcoal has shut down!

Who mentioned “we” ? - no need to jump to all sorts of daft conclusions - game time for Matty in Toronto for the Eagles will be a stiff test and sharpen him up for challenges that may lie ahead if injuries hit at key times - rather than keeping the bench warm.

He’s one half/hooker being injured away from being in the 17. Only difference this week is that there is an injury doubt in the 3/4’s so an extra outside back is needed in the 19.

Good luck to him, hope he does well for them and he manages to settle over there. Keeping him at Saints for the rest of the season is the right thing to do imo, if we lost him now as some rumours were intimating we’d be exposing ourselves to too much risk.
