Signed for Salford
Will that club never learn. He's just another Rangi Chase, except with a worse injury record and more problems

On field, if he's fit he is the best half in the comp, and Salford need some quality players. Off the field he isn't worth the hassle, and of course his injury record means that Salford will only get half a season out of him. All clubs think that they have the right people to sort certain individuals out, and all clubs believe that players like Carney will sort themselves out if they find themselves in the right situation. Salford obviously believe it's a calculated gamble. The quiet life and secluded night life in that backwater of Manchester could be just what he needs to resurrect his career.
I wish we would of took a gamble on him !
I guess it answers the Work Permit question.
Good for Salford that! get Marwain to wind his neck in, give Carney leadership and profile and the job is a good un. Saints Leeds or any other big club no no.
The paperboy doesn't deliver the Star in our street. To be fair though the 28 hour flight and 6 hour drive is prohibitive.
And I certainly don't want to waste my data allowance reading Mike Critchleys musings.
If KC told him were the best attacking side in the league he'd write it.
Bloody hell he cant even get to Marshalls Cross but I guess when your 82 and the paper round emanates from Billinge Rogues does his best.
Season ticket renewed, fifth year at Saints 2017. Beer at The George time.
Good spot I must admit.
Not saying this just because he is a close mate but that is very harsh. Its a fine balance challenging what is going on at the club and keeping good relations. He certainly wasn't always complimentary in 2016!
If Mike didn't write about the club you would struggle to find any columnn inches about them anywhere! Most of the Dailies ignore RL.
There is a fine line to be walked by local journalists who report on a local club. You want to reflect the feelings of the fanbase but at the same time you need to keep the club sweet and be an unofficial spokesman at times. If Mike is simply reporting Cunningham's quotes word for word then there is nothing wrong with that. He's reporting a coaches statements, not writing an opinion piece.
I remember sitting on a bus after a home defeat chatting to Mike and have spoke to him a few times. He is certainly not a 'head in the sand' yes man about the club and can see everything that we see. However, if any of us depended on Saints opening the door for us and giving us access to key men for our livelihood then we would adopt a similar attitude when reporting on stuff.
NEVER WRITE OFF THE SAINTS
Easy to be a critic. I find the reports by MC pretty good. It doesn't help when the coach at times comes across as a mixture of trump and Koukash.
I've spoken about him on here before, and whilst I don't feel Todd Carney would have been the ideal partner for Matty Smith, he's top quality and would have given Saints more options in the halves as I have said.
I'm interested to see what the combination will be in there for Salford this season now, with Michael Dobson & Robert Lui still on the books.
