As for two subs within an age limit, I see what you are advocating Brian but as someone said earlier 'if you are good enough you are old enough' & I suppose the reserve games are there to gain experience.
There are loads of different scenarios, maybe then have ten substitutes to cover six substitutions which should allow enough cover for the "specialist positions" . My reasoning for the U21 rule is to at least give young players some first team game time. The reserve comp this year has been a joke. Sometimes it's been three or four weeks between games and in general it's been 90% the same players as in the U19 academy games. That needs sorting.
I agree with TWWW on reducing the overseas players, tomorrow I think Hull are fielding seven, yet have a combined academy team with HKR!!!

Really radical proposal, only two overseas players per team, but both exempt from the salary cap. Quality rather than quantity?

What is your reason behind not being able to come back on? Don't see why a prop can't play the first 30 mins then the last 30 mins as long as this is 2 places of your six substitutions. If you get reduced to six substitutions I don't see the two young players getting much game time anyway.

Less subs would probably open games up earlier which would add to the spectacle for me. It's not the only thing affecting the entertainment (wrestling, three-man-in-tackling etc...) but it's a contributing factor.
I quite like the five-minute chancers. Buckets of entertainment. Not sure there's an issue with the amount of points/tries being scored in games at the moment? I think if you had much more you'd be getting regular 80 point matches and the top sides would run away with things a lot more, ending competition.

Just seen Thurston mugging him off, his defence is woeful out wide!! I'm disappointed if we had to get this fella over Luke Lewis it's a proper downgrade.

Would you choose Lewis over Williams? I wouldn't. Granted Lewis has been an exceptional player in his time but he'll be 34 come next season, we'd get 1 year out of him and if he got injured I'd fear the end.

We got one year out Fairleigh, he didn't do to bad did he? I'd rather have Lewis than Williams. If he looked after himself and his body holds he could do 2 years in SL. Much better option than Richards leading the line

Yeah true true and Lewis is the ultimate professional, but the potential Williams still has at 27 especially in SL vs the decline of Lewis at 34.
Richards is a prop, Lewis is a second row or loose.

He'll be an upgrade on Tasi that's for sure but I think he'll get found out if he's played in the second row with quicker players running at him.

From what has been said jammer is looking at people for us so Willian's could well be on way. We would have to respect jammers recommendation?? These still aren't the big signings we require. Gayle, Solomona etc etc would but we never go for them

Because they are unrealistic, both on long term deals and no guarantee either would want to leave Cas,

Gale has only recently extended his deal but I am sure if he wanted out his agent would have seen what is out there. He is obviously happy at Cas under Powell and with the TV money covering the salary cap the days of just cherry picking the other sides players have gone for the likes of Saints & Wigan. Carney went back on his word to us to stay at Salford.

So Carney was supposed to be coming to saints?? I can count 30 players we could sign that would improve us. We must have some big money available on the cap if Walsh is going??? Seems all up in the air. Ok we sign Morgan how many more are we expecting?

No Carney was going to Wigan(according to Baz) probably better off with Burgess anyway.

The game is about winning things. Surely gayle etc Solomona would take a pay cut to play at saints Leeds Wigan Warrington they aren't going to win anything at cas so I just don't get it. If I was McManus I would pay them handsomely and the club and then have a great chance of trophys

Pay cut to play for us? What fantasy world do you live in

I understand that but these players are under contract & Cas will be hardly desperate to sell. It would cost us a fortune to get either of those 2 in. That's if they wanted to come in the first place. Powell is trying to build a side to challenge the likes of Saints, Wigan, Wire, Hull, Leeds going forward & keeping his best players is vital for them

Yeah! Who would take a pay cut to come to one of the most successfull clubs in Super League! With one of the best stadiums around. Ok Saints have not been at their best over the last season or 2 but for players who have the chance to play for Saints I would say they would want that fantasy to become a reality

Oldun I am simply saying if they want to win things they would have a better chance with us. If it were me I would be happy to earn 90k rather than 100k to play for saints over cas bigger club more chance of winning silverware

The only way to make it balance, is win bonus potential and potential sponsorship/endorsement for third party deals. A dip in salary would only be for the primary contract signed, once experience of a top ranked club, their potential for subsequent deals would improve i suppose.
