When he first broke in to the Hull team yonks ago i remember thinking he looked pretty decent at the time. Then he just disappeared. I wasn't even aware that he's still playing!!

screaming in the family corner, scaring the kiddies
The club really aren't doing themselves any favours if they announce this as our first signing for 2017. It's truly awful PR. It's blindingly obvious that we need an injection of positivity and optimism; not another underwhelming signing that will do nothing to lift the mood.
If we announced Kevin Brown, Luke Lewis and a top class centre for example, THEN announced Tommy Lee, it would be a much different reaction. An experienced back-up hooker like Tommy Lee wouldn't be the end of the world on the back of 2 or 3 top signings.
However, it coming out as our first deal will create more disillusionment and panic amongst the fans and add more pressure to the club to get the next few deals right. If they don't then there's a serious risk of us playing in front of our lowest crowds for some time next year.
NEVER WRITE OFF THE SAINTS
This is incredible if true. It's almost like the current administration is trolling the fanbase now
That's Saints for you. I wouldn't be surprised if this and the new deals for LMS and Wilkin were announced this week. It's ideal timing for this to leak out, as we don't have a home game for three weeks, possibly four depending on the 8s fixtures.
Saints media guy will no doubt be out slagging the fans off anyway once they vent on social media. KC will no doubt have a pop too in the announcement.
That is, if there is an announcement. It seems Saints are aware of how unpopular their decisions are currently and are getting very adept at not announcing deals. Wouldn't surprise me to see this signing not given a proper unveiling, just slipped in as a sentence in a St Helens Star article over the coming weeks.
A lot of Salford fans on Facebook saying he's a very good player but has been injury cursed the past 3 seasons. Sounds about right. What happens when Roby actually needs a rest and Lee is injured?
All the talk of us signing cheaper players to accommodate quality players. You'd think a club would sign the quality ones first, see how much cap you've got left then sign the squad fillers, not the other way round. This is seriously worrying.
Looking at the teams above us, other than Hull who have an absolute machine in Houghton, Wigan have McIlorum and Powell, Catalans have Pelissier and Aiton, Warrington have Clark and Dwyer. Leeds this year have Segayaro and Burrow.
Remember when we used to have Cunningham and Higham and then Cunningham and Roby.
We now have Roby and Tommy Lee. Wow.
I am going to assume this is a joke until it is announced by the club.
Learned comment from The Don
So which one have we signed? ...
Optimistic thinking. Realistically though, Tommy Lee will be 29 at the turn of the season, he's been injured on & off all this year and we have signed him to initially play second fiddle to Robes. What if Lee is injured again, who plays second fiddle? Why not sign a younger less injured hooker or promote from within (Charnock) and see how we go.
Just out of curiosity as I don't do Twitter or Facebook etc where is the signing actually stated officially or otherwise?
Today's League Express, old fashioned print media this time
All those back up hookers you've listed came through the juniors at their respective clubs, they didn't go out and buy them.
Genuine question then for all those on here slating the Tommy Lee signing - which SL standard hooker should Saints sign ?
Bearing in mind they would be coming as a back up hooker to Roby so no point throwing in random names of guys who are 1st choice hookers at other clubs because they just wouldn't come here to do that role.
The only possible players I could think of would be Boubdebza at HKR or McShane at Cas, but both are under contract and unlikely to be released by their clubs.
As for Charnock, he is not and never will be a good hooker. Cunningham was a fool for publically stating that he was his 'pet project' but its obvious that failed as Charnock failed to impress there for the reserves, couldn't even get a game at 9 for Leigh and isn't exactly being a stand out for Bradford.
What became of young Ben Karalius who people rated highly a few years ago?
Another poor signing by KC, he is taking us down a road that will take years to come back from as this rate. We have enough deadwood in the squad and now he has added to it. His recruitment has been very poor and I just cant see a way forward for our club with this guy as head coach.
Add this signing to the rumoured signings of Smith and Brown and we really are a championship team in the making.
"If you're going to strive for a change then you have to keep going upwards,"
Keiron Cunningham, 2016
Mass hysteria again
I'm going to wait to see our recruitment as a whole before passing full judgement but I don't think he's a bad signing personally. We've wanted somebody to spell Roby, now we have somebody. He's impressed against us at times and I'm not sure what level of player we expected to come in and be willing to play total second fiddle to Roby all the time.
The real question mark for me is where our younger hookers are. Charnock looked talented for a period and we've got some highly rated youngsters at hooker. That's the only question for me.
