Been told that Savelio is one of 2 'under contract' players that will be leaving at the end of this year.
It would certainly explain the huge dip in his performances this year and why he looked like he couldn't even be arsed playing in the Reserves last night. His head is obviously elsewhere.
Given he signed a much improved new contract only last year him leaving would free up even more cap space in addition to the other out of contract players who are likely to leave.

    Probably right.

Watkins will either go to Union or NRL if he leaves Leeds, which I didn't actually know was being mooted until I read this thread.

Pearce could be got. NRL clubs don't want to take the risk on him right now, and so he would definitely do a couple of years up here waiting for memories to fade and clubs down there to rekindle an interest. He would be the best No.7 in the comp by a distance, and along with Carney probably the best all round player in the comp as well. He made a tit of himself no doubt, but if he is going to come up here I would want him. However, that would require huge ambition and a commitment to getting rid of some of KC's big earning favourites to clear up the cap room to get Pearce. Won't happen.

Lewis. The bloke is still a top line forward, a pack leader and would demand big money. So, the same answer as the one given for Pearce.

A club with a decent coach is going to have some player then. Sure we will replace him with a reserve from Wakefield.

Watkins - there's more chance of me running out at centre.

Pearce - no hope, massive money. If Smith is available, I'd bank on him coming here at 7. I'm not exaggerating when I say that Cunningham loves him. Nailed on if he's leaving Wigan.

Lewis - highly doubtful. Late 20s and massive money again. They've definitely an interest in him though but I'd be amazed if that comes off.

We would still need to play a more expansive style as well to go with it but we certainly don't have any problems that aren't fixable.

It's all going to boil down to what McManus/Rush/Cunningham decide over the next few months. If they are lazy, sympathetic and short-sighted then next year could see us mid-table playing in front of 6000 fans. If they are ambitious, bold and ruthless then we could fear nobody and fans would be back on side.
    Spot on.

I was just being facetious. Luke Lewis is ancient though. Its a gamble taking any player that age from the NRL. He's played a lot of rugby. I do rate him. But for every 1 David Fairleigh that comes over here theirs 5 Bradley Clydes. For the same reasons i wouldn't want Paul Gallen either.

Some players are lucky with injuries and some are able to carry knocks and keep on playing like Steve Menzies. Lewis & Gallen are pretty robust guys who seem to be able to play through most minor knocks and injuries so I wouldn't see their age as being an issue. Gallen is probably more of a risk as he does have a long term degenerative knee injury where as Lewis has remained fairly injury free for a few years now.

Gallen would be a risk in terms of injuries, but not a risk in terms of how much effort he'd put in. He seems the kind of player who would give 100% every week because he loves it and wouldn't want to let himself down. If he were fit 75% of the time we'd have a Champion player, a captain and a leader, even at his age. It's all down to injuries with him.

Add Wilkin to that pile and collectively there'd probably be a third to half our CAP spend to re-allocate. With the younger players coming through, we'd only need, as has been said, to add 3 or 4 key signings and we'd be right up there. If those signings could be Pearce, Watkins, Lewis/Gallen then we'd have a good chance. An even better chance if they replaced Cunningham with an actual coach.

Agreed Baz. He would be the best half in SL imo.

No chance Saints will sign him though. Or if we did, we'd send him on loan to Rochdale to learn our 'structures' and become KC's next 'project.'

He passes the ball far too much, so would be bulked up and played in the SR

No no no , he wouldn't listen attentively enough to KC in training, he'd take the line on & forget to drop a pass off to 'can't catch Vea' and would be sent straight to the reserves followed by a loan deal at Bradford & replaced by Captain fantastic Wilkin
