    Default 'Cunninghams@ statue

I know its a referring to the petty thing but would people please stop saying that the statue at the ground is a tribute to KC. If you recall, the statue was made as a tribute to the team. Someone decided to put a past players face on it and Cunningham was chosen. It was NOT made because of his (justified) legend status but to celebrate all players and staff at the club. Stevo and the other sky pundits do it all the time. It just annoys me a bit, that's all.

Well it would look funny shape if we'd put Alex Murphy's face on it.

The club decided they wanted a statue and asked the vans to vote for which former player was most deserving of the honour. So yes, the statute is a tribute Cunningham as well as the club as a whole.

I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve in playing this down. Quite a strange first post.

So what we're saying is that Nelson's Column isn't a tribute to Nelson.

KC's statue was a result of a democratic vote. I would imagine that most voters unlike me, never saw Murphy, Vollenhoven or Huddart play. I accepted the vote but would have liked to see my heroes joining him up there. Maybe one day they will and there wouldn't be a complaint from Keiron. I'd like to think the best of the OP's sentiment but it might have been put a bit better to be fair to him on his first post.

Maybe we could consider a bronze statue in all four corners of the ground in the future.

    I'd like to see;

    Karel 'Tom' Van Vollenhoven
    Alex Murphy
    Kel Coslett

& of course the already standing Keiron Cunningham

I think if you put a statute of a person up, I think it's fair to assume most people will think it's to pay tribute to that player.
The fact that it's for other things will get lost over time as you just see the player.
It has an impact though as I saw quite a lot of York Knights fans admiring it as they passed and we're taking photos..

I wouldn't have anything associated with Alex Murphy near the club, he's done nothing but talk down the Saints in recent years.

The statue has about the same level of movement taking the ball up.

I say lets have Josh Perrys statue in one corner it would move and perform a lot better than he did, or going back Paul Vautin he did nothing when returned for wembley appearance.

I'm not doubting Murphy's ability on the field but his talking down of the club and their personnel since he stopped playing doesn't represent someone who epitomised the spirit, passion and success of the club.

We'd probably bankrupt the club with the amount of bronze we would have to use. But I'm sure I've seen a statue of Masoe somewhere before...
