Yes, you guessed it, in the season that each result occurred, Saints finished the season crowned as “Super League Champions”.
The only season not featured was our truly exceptional class of 2006.
So a message to all you knee jerking, panicking doubters is simple, get of the coach’s back, get off the players backs and get behind them in their quest to retain our crown. Yes, “our” crown, the one that belongs to the town, the club, the players and to us the supporters…. We are in this together, and now we need to stay together and pull together to ensure that we are at Old Trafford again in October.
Sure last night was not good, there are areas that need vast improvement but we do not become a bad side overnight. Leeds would have blown away any team in the league in that first half and they had the initial bounce of the ball with the first try that was a massive 12 points turnaround and unfortunately set the tone for the rest of the game.
We are still riddled with injuries, our halves will make a vast improvement when they have some much needed game time together and the faster grounds will suit or style now that spring is here. We must keep the faith with our rookie coach, but be assured if anybody knows what is needed and understands what our club is all about then Keiron does,
The old saying that it’s not how you start a season that’s important, its how you finish it has never been more apt.
Going back to the 10 results listed, how many of you were thinking of those horror shows when basking in the glory at Old Trafford (or Knowsley Rd for the top one when we won the inaugural completion) ?
Yep, I thought so, not one of you.
Keep the faith, we’re in this together and never ever write off the Saints.
