I'm still banned from rflreferees so had to depend on redvee for what Child said. Got banned for saying it was the 'comedy hour' and saying something about Jamie Peacock not getting banned.

When the match officials put their post game reports in, do they get the time to review incidents (frame by frame) such as the Green:Burns one and put their hindsight opinions and any potential disciplinary recommendations in the report too? Or is it just passed over to the disciplinary panel?

There was a press release from the ref's headquarters yesterday morning suggesting they be renamed as - Game Managers.

This is in lieu of a pay rise.

I don't think that they are biased(unless the other team is Australian). I think it is just total incompetence.

We just have to get on with things. No matter what the suspension was we have still lost a key player to a bad challenge.

I agree things need to be said but I doubt it will make any difference. Bad refereeing and the denial of bad refereeing is just a part of the game and sadly always will be.
I could agree with you but then we would both be wrong.

That Hull try oh very dear referees. Clearly the tackle was complete, Cummings says the same and two video referees miss it. Ive tweeted them more grief on top of bombarding them over Burns. I expect to be blocked as these jokers are clueless and in denial of being so inept.

i thought it was a try. common sense should come into it. the fullback gambled and tried to promote the ball back into the field. his momentum was never stopped. pryce scored.

ask yourself this. if that happened at full speed on the half way line would it have been a knock on or a ball steal?????? knock on all day. therefore, it was a try

A knock-on, yes, but only after the ball is dead as the tackle is already complete.

Doesnt matter if ball is grounded with contact, does it?

I thought he was tackled grounded and then pulled further over?

im not sure mate. he was always moving. common sense HAS to be the game breaker in situations like this. in rugby league ball retention is key. he extended his arm in order to keep the ball in the field of play. thats a big gamble he CHOSE to take and he lost it imo.
it was never a ball strip. therefore it was a ball lost. try all day for me

Yes beating Hull away was pretty tragic...
“It's been 31 years, since 1974, we last won a major (trophy and) Andrew Johns and Natty (Nathan Wood), our two oldest players were born in 1974 so it's a little bit spooky,”

There is a common trait in teams at this point in the season that they seem to sit back and wait for somebody to win the game for them. And we had too many of our players waiting for someone to win the game.”

The attributes of a referee in my mind are someone intelligent, exercises good judgement, can handle pressure, can be decisive and having a presence about them that people respect.

In general, people who have those attributes are building careers as professional teachers/lawyers/accountants, or in the police/fire/ambulance service. They are working in business, running their own companies, managing people and making big decisions on a daily basis. And they are all earning more than the full time professional referees.

Anyone can get fit enough to referee a game, and anyone can learn the rule book by rote - but you need the other interpersonal skills that our current bunch of referees seem to be lacking.

    I beg to differ.

Fitness would be an issue, but given I'm on minimum wage doing 32 hrs a week, a salary of £30k would be a massive improvement for me seeing as it would more than double my income. Travel, game-time and reports, 2-3 days get together for another 18-19K a year? Yes please!!

Well, following Childs doing nothing about the attack to the head on Burns that has resulted in three fractures to his face, he was given the Hudds v Salford game the week after.

    This happened.....

Childs did nothing until the touch judge told him what had happened and he put it on report. Ferres is now out for 3/4 months.

My question is thus, at what point does an official's inability to officiate a contest and enforce discipline become dangerous ? I can accept the Burns one marginally as it wasn't completely conclusive. That on Ferres though, is despicable, from a guy with plenty of history of this kind of thing.

I used to think Tierry Albert was the worst referee i have ever seen, but Childs is by far the worst as you say despicable. to do that to a fellow professional is just beyond words.

Childs is an absolute joke of a referee.
They should be given a score after the game out of 10 by both coaches and captains and if its below a 5 they should be dropped for next rounds fixtures.
An amateur ref could do a better job than that clown.

That Chase tackle is horrible. There are few worse things in our sport that cannonball and chicken wing tackles. Glad that the RFL are handing out a hefty ban. That, along with Sam Powell's chicken wing tackle on Eorl Crabtree this year are two of the worst tackles I've seen in a while!
