Season ticket renewed, fifth year at Saints 2017. Beer at The George time.
We're cursed
Eamonn must have broken a lot of mirrors at some point
Firstly the ban for Green proves that Childs was incompetent by allowing him to remain on the field of play. He should have seen red if we are being consistent.
The length of the ban is also a joke and it is about time that the damage caused was factored in in some way. Burns could be out for weeks and weeks and he cops 1 match with an EGP. Ben Flower copped 6 months for an incident that in reality caused less damage to the opponent!
Is there ever a time to ask the coaching staff to come out of retirement?
KC at 9, Long at 7, Ade on the wing?
Get Tommy Martyn down from the bar at 6.
Scully is in the backroom staff too.
Not Arrogant. Just Better
I reality, it's 9 games - as we all know
Much as it's frustrating, I'm sure there've been Saints players who've fouled opponents causing injury, who've been able to use EGP or just get a 2/3 game ban.
But there is a real issue of big forwards seeming to target smaller halfbacks, and certain refs offering little or no protection. Green should have seen red, and we'd have likely carried 2 valuable points back to 'Tellins. As it is, we lose two points (where Burns' injury was a factor) and lose our only true halfback for a couple of months in the bargain.
Indeed but that is about as many as anyone can expect for any incident. The Flower incident was a cheap shot on a defenseless player. I would wager a large sum that if it had been in a regular, not broadcast league game he would have copped half that. He was made an example of because of the publicity is caused in the aftermath.
If I wasn't already bald then I would be after reading this.ffs what have done to deserve this.good job I don't have a cat either.
Great...that's me peed off for the rest of the week, was looking forward to this only 2 weeks ago!
Terrible news all round really.
The Lomax injury is a shocker and I feel gutted for the poor lad right now. Mentally he will be devastated right now and it's an injury he may not be able to come back from having suffered bad knee injury's before. We can only hope for the best on this one but I'm not feeling too optimistic that a). he will be able to return and b). if he does, he will be the same player.
The Vea one is just unlucky and a real shame given his early season form. Typical that we sign a new player and within 6 weeks he's injured for several months.
The Burns one is just a disgrace to be honest. How did Green get away with it at the time and how have the RFL only deemed worthy of a one game ban? We lose another key player for months and Green and Hull KR get very little punishment for foul play. James Child won't get punished either for an inept performance.

Green is out for 1 game, Burns is out for months, how long is Childs out for, or is he back endangering players this week?
Hopefully it is all smoke and mirrors re: Roby, Greenwood and Wello. With those 3 on the field we are still the much stronger team. Even without them our pack is far superior and should lay a decent platform for whichever halfback pairing we can muster.

If we're looking for silver linings there is one huge positive - all our props are fit and that is where Wigan are most vulnerable.
If we can get Greenwood, Roby and Wello on the pitch we're in with a chance.
I seriously think there's a big issue with the game at present. There's more reward for foul play than there is punishment. Take out our only playmaker, win a game and take a one match ban, whilst the victims burns/saints/supporters miss 3 months and our season potentially derails. A fair hard hit on the playmaker is one thing, but a late/high/shoulder charge has to be punished heavily to keep it out of the game.
This could cost Eaton £100k and possibly more.

What do Travis Burns, Todd Carney and Jonathan Thurston all have in common?

Be interesting to see what action, if any, the NRL and RFL are going to take.
Typical Saints curse. Travis Burns doesn't miss a game all season for Hull KR then 6 weeks into his saints career & he looks like being out for as long as he has played.
