Sure the series trophy is the little shield thing. This one is for our game. Saints tweeted it last night.
But I'd be wrong.
I've found the Saints Twitter photo:

Notice that UNLIKE complex.matt, I have credited the original source of the photo. If I were still in charge, complex.matt would be banned.matt but that's a call for bronco to make.
That is outstandingly terrible.
What next? Redesign the Challenge Cup to look like this;

So aesthetics don't matter? What things look like? Art? Sculpture?
A trophy _should be_ a thing of beauty. What's wrong with having such idealistic standards? It symbolises victory, triumph, and then a history of winners and triumphs. This should, at least, be reflected in what the trophy looks like. Though this need not concern you, since apparently your eyes, don't respond to what things look like?
Whatever anyone thinks about it, it is what it represents that matters. Every other team in the European rugby league wish they were playing for it . In case people have forgotten the winners are the WORLD CLUB CHAMPIONS.
I actually think it looks OK.
Im assuming the WCC champions will still get the old one?
Either way, like others on here, I don't care what a trophy looks like. Winning it is the important thing.
this trophy is made up of the bits that were holding walshes leg together !! plus a bit of glass from pilks---- it will be announced as the WLC (walshes leg cup), so if he cant play at least a bit of him would have played its part, seriously, whatever it looks like it will be worth winning, on the plus side at least nobody will nick it !!
That's what I said , nobody from other teams in a month or two will care what it looks like but they will be sick of hearing Saints supporters go non about being WORLD champions when /if we win it .
But given the choice, wouldn't we rather have a trophy that looks nice? I mean, you wouldn't put a polished turd on your mantelpiece if that's what you'd won for your local darts competition, would you? But you'd give a nice looking trophy pride of place.
If it has replaced the old one, then why? It looked perfectly good to me before.
THIS YEAR LENDING SUPPORT TO:- St. Helens RLFC, Manchester City, Celtic, Alemannia Aachen, Steps 1 to 6 Non-League Football
I am beginning to think you've got a thing about turds.
It may not be the most attractive of trophies, but surely it's what it stands for that counts. Would look a lot better in our Trophy Cabinet !!!!!
ONCE A SAINT, ALWAYS A SAINT
Ha...nice one.
It's been designed like this so the winners can't fill it with booze and be filmed drinking from it in the team bath.
I actually don't mind it. Maybe the designer was trying to move away from the standard Jug / Varse type style. If we win this it will be the most modern construction in St Helens since LP...
Humans are more concerned with having than being.
This thread just goes to prove that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it's a pointless exercise to question other people's opinions. As an older speccy, I'd like a return to the old days when the victors merely held aloft the severed heads of the defeated.
Yes!! Put them on spikes on Prekkys' bridge!!!
ONCE A SAINT, ALWAYS A SAINT
But surely L'Arc de Triomphe is only equivalent to what the Pies or Wire will get if victorious this weekend - a memento of victory but not in a battle that really matters?
