I wasn't being arsey with you then. Apologies if you thought I was. There are loads of permutations, too many to discuss on here but yes technically is the answer

I'm no legal whizz but when my niece got filled in by her fella in public someone reported it to the police and put a statement in. My niece didn't want to take it further, but because a third party reported it the lad got taken to court and convicted for it.

Wigan were always going to target our only fit half back. I'd have expected a late or a high tackle, not two full on punches in full view of everyone.

Flower will get banned and fined but he won't be sacked because of it.

Wane spent all week , talking about hatred etc etc, you can imagine his team talk "smash eff out of this lot" etc etc etc

Looks like his team took his "knock them effing out" line seriously this time, Good on the ref for not bottling it.

I get that wane will have told them to smash us but I don't think even he would have anticipated what that idiot done.

As I said not every situation is the same. Far too complicated to discuss on here!

He deserves a six match ban, four for the attack and two for being stupid. Hohaia appeared lead with the forearm (I'll confirm it when I watch the video tomorrow) and Flower then threw a punch. That should have been an end to it but then he followed it up with one (or two) on the floor. There is no excuse for it and it probably cost Wigan the game.

Good day out though with good craic in the Railway Club before and after the match.

    Congratulations on the win.

You biased old fool. Get real. He hit lance around the head (from behind as a coward would) in the build up, for which he got lances forearm in his face (lance did it from the front not cowardly from behind) flower hit him twice, second time when he was helpless on the floor. Your team got exactly what you deserved. He should be banned for life.

There is NO excuse for what flower did, before the thuggery it was handbags. Flower deserves to be banned for a season and sacked from the club. Disgraceful behaviour. I hope the rfl throw the book at the shitbag.

As I said I'll watch the video tomorrow, but St Pete on RL fans also thinks that it would have been a penalty to Wigan had Flower not had his stupid head on.

No one is saying that he shouldn't have reacted. The first punch was understandable and was a beaut. The 2nd however was a total disgrace.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, watch the incident, but be sure to see the first attack to lances head from behind after the kick is put up, then come back and give you comments. Hope you enjoy the rerun as much as i will.

Anyone who tries to defend the punch on the floor is a lunatic, end of story. The definition of a cowardly assault. It will go down in history for being one of the most costly errors in Wigan's history.
WON'T SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF POOR BEN FLOWER?!

Only just seen the clip of this, only saw the first punch live at the time, knew he was going then, stunned to see the second one when Lance was on the floor. Mentioned this several times before but this is what happens when you play right on the line, you have to have the discipline not to cross it. Flower doesn't have it, neither does McIllorum, neither did Hock - all always close to a sending off. For Flower to go in with that second punch was disgraceful - never seen anything like it, he'd already knocked him senseless with the first one. He looked like he was in a drunken brawl in the street.

I don't think anyone is. They're just looking for excuses for the whole incident because Wigan as we know are not a dirty side

Another slightly different point I saw more knees used in tackles last night that in all the time I've watched the game. Every tackle seemed to have the wigan defender with his knee on the head of the player with the ball, now is that another accident or is it coached?

Funny you mention McIllorum. When wigan got to the final I said to my mates the only chance we have is when Mcillorum gets sent off. Just happened to be Flower. Ended up with a ticket in the Wigan end tonight which was annoying but made it almost more special. Yeeeeeeeees!

I'd agree with that. It blew his game plan to bits. Can we stop defending gutless footballers on here too. Biting and head butting are the same level of scumbag behaviour we saw tonight. No class whatsoever.

Very short answer-yes a third party can report the crime to GMP
Clearly there is enough evidence to prove the offence took place and who the offender is.
However it's not really in the public interest to pursue the case, even though a conviction would be certain.
It would also be argued there are mitigating circumstances for Flower.
Best dealt with by the club.

    Wiganers are already re-writing history.

Showing the arm from Lance, but missing the bit where Flower forearm smashes Lance from behind.

So Flower started all this with a cowardly blow from behind, Lance reacts and Flower then reacts back. Then tries to make Lances face flat.
