100% agree. Always think you need specialist players in the halves despite their age. Experienced players who aren't used to the position and have no real pace aren't going to win games against the better teams. They may get away with it against some teams in the regular season but no chance in the play offs.

Browns made up his mind though so we'll go to shudds next week and play the same way with as many of the same people as possible and probably lose

Disagree. Dawson, turner, LMS etc ... All either average or mediocre. Too many average players in the side. The League play offs dictate that it's pointless to go all out to finish top. We are in a false position

Credit where it's due Wire have done a number on us tonight. They've exploited our defence at the PTB in a way reminiscent of Saints with KC and Roby in their pomp. They've sapped our confidence by attacking players like Masoe when he had the ball and I hate to say it but we've been out coached as well as out played

The pack were as soft as sh&te again, we also must have the most stupid team in the comp, 18 points plus given away by comedy defense, sky should have played Benny hill music over the top of the highlights

They executed a plan, pal, but we made it so easy. Warrington made easy yards on every kick return and there were points in the game where forwards were running into simple drop passes and making 10 to 15 yards. We were simply unable to control the speed of the game to a point where we looked a championship side. In the end the basics were so poor by us coaching didn't need to come into much.

Disgraceful. A chance to win a trophy at one and a complete capitulation.

    My initial thoughts are;

Tonight meant nothing, simply we either play wire, Leeds or Wigan at home. That is the fault of the system

Secondly, poor form from mcmanus not to speak after he promised he would

You could tell at the 50min mark that 95% of the saints team had mentally thrown the towel in. I'm sure all the fans who have paid good money for season tickets would much prefer to have seen them pick up the shield tonight but it seems the mentality wasn't there and that speaks volumes about this team. How the hell we are top of the league I'll never know.

Finally, could they have embarrassed the club any more by packing away a trophy that hadn't been out of the box all night anyway and walking it out of the ground. I bet the guy from the RFL was laughing his tits off all the way down the tunnel. That was simply the whole game sticking two fingers up to Saints as a club. If I was Eamon, if we win it next week, if take a dump on the plate, put it back in the box and post it recorded delivery to Red Hall.

Think that's more to do with not having a single player capable of organising a play on the field, something Walsh is very very good at. Never been one of Roby's strengths and it's always going to be risky if you've only got one organiser in the squad.

Fitness is the other big worry for me. We looked knackered quite early on in the game. Granted we'd done a lot of defending thanks to ill discipline and simple errors, but considering we recently had a week off we should be able to tough it out for more than 30 mins before we start keeling over.

For those reasons logic dictates an early exit from the playoffs but obviously hope I'm wrong. Overall a big improvement on recent seasons but ultimately looking likely to fall short with an unbalanced squad and lack of onfield leadership.

Ironic really that the player who Brown dropped is the one who so far as I can tell didn't drop the ball once and actually ran it forward with some intent.

    Haha

Not sure I want to see that personally! But they wouldn't have done that at any other club for sure

Just a typical Sky carve up. Produced to ensure some last day of the season drama.

Sadly despite being a professional sport, some of the main stakeholders seem to do everything in their power to make it look otherwise. No doubt plenty of Wire and neutral fans will have had a giggle but it's not really a surprise sponsors and mainstream media don't take us seriously.

Fact is, we were out played and out enthused! Child was poor but no excuses. On that performance, do we really deserve the LLS? I'm not sure.

I am bitterly disappointed with our performance tonight and not for the first time this season. This team are a disgrace to the redvee. They are unprofessional, and make a mockery of their current league position which flatters them beyond belief. Time and again tonight I saw Swift, Dawson and Makinson taking the ball up and clearing the line whilst the forwards stood back and watched them with their hands on their knees.I lost count of the basic, fundamental errors that a secondary school team would not make. This game puts into perspective where we are as a club. We are a million miles off the pace and please don't blame it on injuries. Tonight Im almost ashamed to be a Saints supporter. The playoffs loom and Im dreading what other pitifull display this team will put in. 2014 Season RIP.

Missed game tonight as I was working. But sounds like we played similar to the magic weekend but if the club from players up to the top are happy with having the rest of SL,Sky and the RFL taking the p*** out of them what can you do?
