Rumour on twitter that Brough wants to leave Huddersfield at the end of the season. Too old now or worth having for a few years?

This wonderful St. Helens OUTFIT
Yes and yes. Cue fools saying Wilkin is better and our youth team has a clone of Sean Long aged 20.
Next week is the ideal time to try out Charnock etc
It would depend on Walsh. Don't think you could have Walsh and Brough in the same side.
Brough is going to rugby union
Too inconsistent to say the least

I wouldn't want him. Teams have worked him out now and he's very easy to put off his game
Not for me - highly inconsistent due to the ease of getting into his head.
Either a rising star with potential or a decent-standard consistent performer is what we need, Brough is neither.
He is a bit of a maverick and has a bit of fire in his belly...give us options if Walsh is injured etc...worth a punt IMHO
It's been 31 years, since 1974, we last won a major (trophy and) Andrew Johns and Natty (Nathan Wood), our two oldest players were born in 1974 so it's a little bit spooky,
There is a common trait in teams at this point in the season that they seem to sit back and wait for somebody to win the game for them. And we had too many of our players waiting for someone to win the game.
"interfacing at the ruck"
"winning the go-forward"
"i thought we won the collision"

I don't see it as a massive punt.
Firstly I'm assuming Lance is leaving this year.
So Walsh and ????
Wilkin - brough is far more reliable and useful than Wilkin
Wellens - same
GOB - Brough is far more proven at halfback
If we are talking about Brough to replace walsh, then I have no issue with that so long as we are looking for another 6.
If we are talking about Brough and Wilkin, then that is a different matter and I would not want Brough. As a single pivot he is not reliable enough, but with a steady eddie to back him up he will be a good addition.
Depending on how much and how long. Which none of use would know.
That's been our solution since Lomaskell and it did not work. We signed a FB to play halfback and that did not work.
This year we signed a halfback to play halfback and hey it has shown results. I would suggest a second halfback added to that mixture will again work.
Luke Walsh is quite comfortably the best 7 in Super League
Personally I don't like Brough, I can appreciate what others see in him but for me he's a whiny cry-baby that will let you down when the going gets tough

He must be s**t, he's only reigning man of steel.
How do you know what Walsh is being paid? Wasn't it also reported that McManus said Penrith were paying towards his salary? If that is the case then whatever he is being paid, I'd say we got a bargain.
As for him being average, who are you comparing him to? Cooper Cronk? If so, most of the 7s in world rugby league are average. At least we know that with him on the pitch our attack looks a ton better than when he's not on the pitch and at a push he can pull off a play that players who aren't 7s can't.
Brough is inconsistent and easily riled. His kicking game is the best in the business, when he's on his game, but I don't see him standing out in other ways from other halfbacks in Superleague, not this season anyway.
