    Confirmed as a broken neck
    http://rugbyleagueweek.com.au/scans-...brae-mckinnon/

thoughts to the player and his family at this time
also thoughts with the Melbourne players who were involved, must feel terrible
Is a dream a lie if it don't come true, or is it something worse?

i didnt think cameron smith handled the situation with much class. its only a game of rugby league at the end of the day. the lads on the floor with a broken neck and smiths arguing the toss with the ref over the penalty. any other time i could understand but in those circumstances i think he should of taken the refs decision on the chin, turned and walked away
screaming in the family corner, scaring the kiddies

maybe he didnt realise the severity of the injury???
Hope the lad makes a full recovery though how likely is that?

It's truly awful to see a player get injured like this, can easily change a life. I hope Alex makes a full recovering and best wishes to him and his family.

I don't think it looks too malicious to be fair to the Storm players, it looks to me like McKinnon tucks his head in in anticipation of a spear tackle, but the Storm player lifts the leg (not above the horizontal) then drives him forward/sideways rather than a tip tackle. I'm sure all concerned are feeling terrible and I hope there are no long term concerns.

Like I said, I really hope he's ok and makes a speedy and full recovery!

A dreadful thing to happen - thankfully very rare - but it will shake any parent with a child regularly playing the game at any level. We all hope for as full a recovery as possible, though I guess that his playing days are over even so.

Couldn't agree more. Thought much better of him until that.

It was clear that the lad was badly injured. Different in football where one can never be sure whether a player is genuinely injured but simulation is very, very rare in RL so I'm guessing he could have conclude that the guy was in a bad way.

Appealing for a penalty in, what, a round 4 or 5 game when a guy is badly injured???is that what win at all costs has really come to? If so then it has gone too far IMO.

We at Clockface u8s have had a short session with the kids this week already regarding this tackle and the dangers involved.

One week on from Mckinnons shocking injury. Roosters v Manly. Waerea-Hargreaves clear shoulder charge to the head on Stewart. Don't know when players will learn. A shoulder charge to the head is banned and proven to be dangerous yet they still do it. SBW a few weeks ago as an example. For me if the ref things it is a shoulder to the head, a cannonball or a dangerous tackle putting the opposing players safety at risk it should be a video review on the spot and a red card if the ref thinks guilty, then a lengthy ban issued by governing body and im talking ten games plus a very hefty fine. Something has got to be done as players simply are not listening.

Sam scored a superb try and had was involved in creating three others.

Also watch the Warriors try after the hooter on half time. As good a try as you will ever see.

Some of the results above and the current ladder just shows how competitive the NRL is, there is not much between a bottom team and a top one over there. Hopefully Super League will become a bit more like that when they reduce the number of teams

Roosters and Sea Eagles are the two best teams in the comp for me but it doesn't mean that they will both be back in the GF. All not well at the Rabbitohs though
