    Default Luke Walsh

According to Dave 'Nosey' Parker Saints are lined up to sign goal kicking scrum Luke Walsh (25) from Penrith. Always take with a pinch of salt what Mr Parker usually says. However may be mileage in this as Walsh was dropped recently. Apparently strong kicker but average running game. Sounds like a steady eddie non flair player but I guess thats the standard available half back these days. Matty Smith clone are first impressions.
Nevertheless ticks first priority box of good kicking game in middle of park. Lomax can do the running game from fullback.

Would be very happy with this from what I've seen of Walsh.

As you say, I believe it when I see it, but a proper scrum half who can kick would make a big difference immediately.

That would I presume be for next season. For this season we may have to make do with the lad O'Brien on loan until the end of the season, from our Wire friends, if reports are correct.

That's the first I've heard of that one. I haven't really seen enough of him to comment. If he's any good it makes you wonder why Warrington would agree to help us out!

I haven't heard that one either but would be happy with it if true. He looks a prospect.

It was passed onto me earlier. We are desperately trying to get in a 7 for the remainder of this season. Dobson won't be coming to Saints, that is now dead. Luke Walsh may happen but not until next season. The O'Brien thing may not be right, I for one think he is out on loan, but I would imagine he would rather be at Saints than a championship side.

With the situation regarding U19s I can see these arrangements becoming far more commonplace. Wire recently sent Brad Dwyer on loan to the Giants.

I have been saying his name for a few week now. He is solid and very Dobson-esk but NRL clubs are always looking out for the next Thuston or Cronk so they will no persist with a solid ball player forever. Which is why Dobson has failed in the NRL twice.

He would be a great signing and just what we need. Other players of interest should be Jeff Robson at Cronulla or Jacob Miller at Wests
I could agree with you but then we would both be wrong.

I was reading League Weekly this morning and it said Jamie Soward was leaving St. George to go to Penrith and this would leave Walsh free to come to Saints next season. We'll just have to wait and see. It also says we are looking to extend the contract of Lomax to keep Wigan from the door when Tomkins moves to the NRL next season.

A SH dropped by Penrith for not taking on the line. Think I would need to see more of him.
Watch a lot of NRL can't say he sticks in the mind.

Be interesting to see if his agent is Peter Brown (we take his word as Gospel eg Hohaia.)

Great the club is looking at SHs in the NRL. Is he the best on offer pound for pound?

I wouldn't mind O'Brien. He looked good when he was on loan to Cas. Young and inexperienced, obviously, but suggestions about him of a genuine rugby brain, pace, kicking game, stuff like that. He could be very useful to us for the remainder of the season and Warrington would be giving him first team experience.

Luke Walsh would be a brilliant signing. Great kicking game and organisational. Absolutely destroyed Parramatta today with his passing and kicking.
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.

I really hope this isn't true, would much rather Lewis Charnock or Nathan Ashe be given game time instead of Gaz O'brien (who won't fill the void better than what we already have in house)
