This was my first Saints v Wigan game i attended, i still remember Pickavance charging against Henry Paul and he nearly ended up at the back of the stand.

Something that's always niggled at me - is KC not offside at that kick? Not that I'm complaining, like

Keep going mate. We want more!
Coming today and through the week:

    - Saints' classic 2000 play off win over Wigan as Sir Ron of Hoofe gets rather excited
    - A nerve tingler in the 1996 SuperLeague title race
    - A classic game against Hull in the early 1990's
    - Champagne rugby in the early rounds of the CC under McClennan's army

Wasn't this our first win against Wigan in about 3 seasons? Some brilliant matches you're uploading, can't wait for the Saints v Wigan play off from 2000, not seen that match in years and we were unbelievably good that night.

It just shows you don't need dummy runners to score a try.

    Great match.

I would argue that this is possibly one of the most important games in Saints history when the club turned the corner with the players knowing and beleiving that they were good enough to win the SL.

The rest to follow was history in the making.

Correct. There was something magical about finishing top of the League that season. For years we had finished second to Widnes and Wigan and then faultered. Anyway, Paris tries coming soon.

Micron videos, now there's a blast from the past! Might have to dig out those VHS video's and try and get a player sorted out. Remember I've got one of a Salford match when Bernard was playing for us, he went toe to toe and knocked the living bells out of one of theirs at the PTB. Happy Days

Amazing stuff, still getting excited and punching the air with those tries. What we'd do for some of those gritty runs from Pickavance and offloads from McVey this last season!

A few highlight videos from 1996 would be good e.g. Wire away & Cas away (I cannot recall this game whatsoever, but I hear it was a nail biter especially with the try saving tackle from Joey Hayes / Steve Prescott?).

There was a game covered by Sky in the nineties against Bradford. We were battering them, and one of my all time heroes, Shane Cooper kicked through from a PTB, and took the p155 by just putting his fingertip on top of the ball as it was about to touch the dead in goal line. The guy might not have been the quickest, but his Rugby brain was way ahead of the rest of his team mates. A player like him in the Red Vee these days would be priceless. He was a joy to watch, but like most players who play for the Saints, he also had quite a few who liked to criticise almost everything he did.

Unfortunately matey it's the age thing that should make you sadder. The years have gone for us all, but that style and brand of Rugby could, just maybe come back. The type and quality of player however, may never been seen again.

The clips only highlight how badly we've recruited in the last 5 years. Half back and Centre used to be full of star power at Saints, we always made sure we were good in this area. Now we don't have a genuine Half or Centre!
