I presume you are referring to the impartial commentators on both Wish FM and BBC Merseyside, and other professionals who have tweeted, all of whom have mentioned that it was possibly the worst reffing performance of the season so far - from a burke who has already been censured for not being able to count to 6 twice this season?
"The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It is nothing of the kind. The game is about glory, it is about doing things in style and with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom." Danny Blanchflower.

This isn't a thread to blame the ref for another dodgy performance. But I'm wondering when the rl top brass are going to sort out the woeful situation with the supposed full time refs! Some of the performances from these fella's are laughable, and it's that type of thing that will make sure new fans don't take to our game. The French bloke with the whistle today should have just taken charge of his last game at this level!
And the word on the street is that Horne's try came on the 7th tackle and that allegation is from a Leeds fan who was there as a neutral!!!
Ray French was gobsmacked at some of the decisions by hallibut, his interpretation of some of the rules in the first half was baffling. Frenchy couldnt get his words out he was that puzzled. The drag in to touch and various knock ons that were missed spring to mind.
Read the match thread. Plenty of folk blaming him rather than suggesting knocking on in our own half on the first tackle twice is not a factor. Nor is giving penalties away in our own 20 after we've already defended 2 sets on our own line. Blowing a 12 point lead is entirely the Frenchmans fault. As is having the most drop kicks from in goal that I have ever heard.....all the officials fault.

I just wanted honest reactions to be fair, I'm sure both teams could have done more to have gotten the result without him having an effect though.

No-one is disputing the fact that we made daft errors and gave away needless penalties. I'm not using the referee as an excuse for the score or performance. This thread is about the refereeing performance, and unrelated to the score it seems it was entirely inept, and therefore action needs to be taken as the decline in refereeing ability seems to be accelerating season by season.

He lets the players know he won't take any messing and he lets the game flow - he's the best of the refs we have. But he is also the one who is earmarked by the worst decisions - eg the game at Milennium Magic, and the Hull game last week. Generally he's good but he makes the odd BIG error. I'd still have him over the rest though.

I know where you are coming from, but that still means the same number of mistakes would be made overall..............
The appalling - and declining - standards of officiating needs to be addressed urgently; it's not just new / potential supporters that will be put off, but long term fans of the game are being turned away from the game due to it.
