And I can see Wigan offering Smith A LOT if they want him.

With Leuluai, Lima, Fielden, Carmont and possible Finch leaving they have a hell of a lot of Salary to use.

Given that he didnt want to leave saints, and we sent him out on loan to salford, where he agreed a new contract before we recalled him to "use" him for our play off campaign, if i was smith id feel a touch betrayed by saints and cant see him wanting to come back. personally i saw a lot of potential in smith (kicking game, commitment, determination, pace and handling) and would have preferrred him not to leave.

Widnes offered the most from what I have been told.

We'll see, the reality of this situation is that nobody knows whether he has chosen or not. Plenty I'm sure will say they do, including yourself as no doubt Smith was a Wigan supporter as a kid and always dreamt of running out at Chez Pie but you don't. I suspect due to us getting shut of him 18 months or so ago and with Wigan being the better side right now, he'll pick Wigan. However, we simply do not know.

On rlfans Father Ted says he has signed for Wigan. On Radio Merseyside Ted says he hasn't decided but Salford must have given clubs the right to talk to him.

    Exactly.

Had Leuluai not said he was leaving Wigan and it was us and Widnes in for Smith, how would the resident Wiganers on here have been reacting ? In short, they'd have been laughing their breasts off. As it is, they're on here trying to take some semblance of joy from the rumour he's signed for them. Decent, steady half who Saints and Wigan are only in for because there is no hope of getting a good NRL half.

can understand it, if true. will do what loooolui does and then some. our loss. it serves us right really. in the last few years we have been like wigan were 8 years ago. offloading promising youngsters as scapegoats in favour of quick fixes. look where we are now: tyrer, shenton. m smith, hoihaia. ashurst, flannery. would we have done worst sticking with the young uns??
rush is coming in for shit lately, but when you look at our youth over the years, hes been one of a few at the club doin his job
screaming in the family corner, scaring the kiddies

Don't blame the club , blame Eastmond !
I would love to have him back at Saints , and I'm sure only a massive offer from Wigan would
entice him with him being a St.Helens lad !
Then the club are at fault for thinking Eastmond was a better option at 7.

Offiah wasnt his agent when he signed for Bath

He came out in the press saying Eastmond should stay in league

Correct, and Eastmond knew he was going to RU in August 2009, as I told people on RL fans from a chance conversation I had at my now son in laws stag night.

I dont know where the Soward to Wigan rumour ever came from - it aint gonna happen. He was on "The Game Plan" on channel 1 in Aus weeks ago and he said he has no intention of coming to the UK and wants to sign a new long term deal with the Dragons. He also said he would like another crack at Origin and was available if Stuart wanted him

It came from the Aussie press who reported he had agreed a 3 yr deal with us

Not when he signed, but he started the ball rolling long before then. The switch to RU was well lamented by Offiah to get him an improved contract at Saints, but the move to RU was always on the cards.

Sky Sports News are saying Salford expect him to leave and Wigan and Saints Are among the clubs to have made an offer.
