    Two points:

Crosby is on the coast and therefore exposed to strong winds.

Why didn't anything else near LP have any damage?

Re-read the posts. The person said "defo used incorrect materials" on the basis of what could be seen in a hazy photograph. I asked the person to withdraw that and they effectively told me to sod off. So I said bye bye.

Warrington have just issued a statement that it can now go ahead and complete their programme of corner enclosure as a consignment of roofing has just unexpectantly blown-in.

It's all to do with the shape, the Westerly Gale force winds blow through the open ended stadium (no cladding) until they reach the Eastern end (cladded)find no way out, causes an upward draught the roof comes off. (ACT OF GOD)...............all to do with THE CLADDING lol Q.E.D.

We went to Tesco at about half nine this morning and there were workmen on the roof of the stadium. They may just be checking the amount of damage or the repair could be underway already.

Think you need a map, a compass and a visit to an optician...

I wonder if those blokes that live up the Link Way in their caravans have offered to come round and fix it yet? Maybe could Tarmac the drive while they are there?

Just make the statue lifesize. That should give enough protection for the whole stadium.

The cladding subcontractor would be responsible for the design parameters and to British Standards laid down

Hurricane force winds are the constant speed not the gusts. Constant speeds can do more damage than gusts. Also where certain buildings are can have different wind speeds. I live in clock and we had speeds in excess of 80mph where as over the Mersey in Runcorn recorded less than half of that. Tesco might have received no damage as there roof line isn't exposed like the stadium is.

If there were soffits there would be no overhang under the gutters on the roof, also them rats wouldn't keep shiting all Over our new ground.

has the delay in fitting out the cladding caused some of the damage, I am not an expert in structural engineering, but I am in aerodynamics and airflow, and with the amount of open space under the roof due to no cladding there was nothing to slow the air flow down... wind only flows where it can flow.... If even 2 sides where fully complete it would probably create a higher pressure point inside the stadium and the wind would flow over the roof...

Its a bit like when you open your car window on the motorway, its a bit windy but no problem until somebody sat in the back opens their window and causes strong airflow to batter the inside of the car....

and for the record I was not one of the 'burning torch' wielding mob going on about the cladding whilst the stadium was being built lol.....

I must have missed them, along with the rest of St Helens.

Don't criticise people as spouting tripe then do it yourself.

According to the Telegraph yes we did.
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/topics/we...r-Britain.html

If you read the article it states Britain battered by hurricane force winds. The point I was making was Big winds (is that ok or do I need to consult the wind terminology guide book for correct definition) often cause damage , so people needed to calm down and wait for it to be fixed not get hysterical about things.

Didnt know admin would jump down my throat for getting wind speed wrong
