Yes, that is phase 2 of the development. Found this quote on the Design and Access statement in the original planning application. It gives us an idea of what we can expect in the future:

"Phase 2 usage is not yet determined. Complementary leisure activities such as cafes, casino, bars, restaurants, bingo, bowling, swimming, health and fitness, and offices, residential and hotels could be appropriate. These types of use would help bring the leisure destination to life throughout the year and throughout the day. Phase 2 could offer the chance of mixed use development with a finer smaller scale of buildings on the southern boundary."

I would love for phase 2 to do be done and have some quality retail and leasure outlets as it would just create a buzz in that area and it would be swarming with people with our stadium in the centre. Could also be scope for another footbridge from phase 2 across to ravenhead retail park??
Any who in the mean time though it would be a great idea to level it all off and make it into match day parking, maybe just for season ticket holders at no extra cost. Could help boost sales!

This is RedVee and we're talking about photographs taken by people who have never heard of the Harvard Referencing System, let alone used it!

Much simpler to say: you're only allowed to post your own pics!

Had to look it up out of interest and I agree with your view of only posting your own. feels like I cheated some of my exams now.

It will end up like the "proposed" leisure development in-between Liverpool Road and Pizza Hut. A flashy advertising board and nothing for about 5 years!

On the pictures of the Home Changing Rooms I think it states it is only part of the changing room, I also suspect that the camera angle makes it look smaller than it actually is.

Great pictures nonetheless, keep em coming!

Makes me wonder what it will do to the wind. It will be gale force through that stand in February when the season starts. I do hope they've thought this through and aren't just penny pinching.

Chaps, as per my other messages on here the North Stand will be cladded.

The seats are clearly 'in progress' and not completed - it's pretty clear in the story

Why are the west and east stands not being cladded?

    1) The atmosphere will be diluted as the sound drifts out of the back of the stand
    2) People in part of the West Stand are going to get soaked when it rains because the prevailing wind will blow it in through the back. It doesn't bother me, I'm going into the North but the day this happens there are going to be a hell of a lot of complaints - and rightfully so.

Getting wet stood near the back of a brand new terrace that is under cover in a supposedly state of the art ground is very new and pretty unacceptable.

It isn't "unacceptable" at all. It's the position the club is in because it can't yet afford to clad the ends. It's reality. Mainly because the stay-away fans likely to cram into this stadium next year haven't supported the club sufficiently in the past, such that the directors are piling millions in to keep our club going - IMO of course.

Knowsley Road was unacceptable. This stadium clearly isn't, cladding or no cladding. It's fantastic.

Saints Media Manager - can we assume that the feedback from the club (is it you?) on the latest onsite pictures page, under the comment "North Stand" is the definitive version on the cladding issue relating to the whole ground (not just the North stand which it is clear will be cladded!). I have heard several different official (forums, facebook, website) things now including it will be cladded, it won't all be cladded, it will be cladded but with a 1m gap at the top.

While I can see the clubs frustration re any comment when we are moving into a brand new stadium, surely the club can also see that some clear information on this topic would clear things up. After all it was you who came on here a couple of months back and said as far as you were aware it would all be enclosed.

    Thanks.

    Nay bother son.

The definitive answer, as I put on the main site, is that the North Stand will be cladded and hoepfully this will be in place for the beginning of the season. It can't be cladded right to the top as it needs to be wind resistant. So there will be a slight gap to ensure it meets those standards. The size of that I don't know, but you're not taking three metres as it is at present.

I have been told it was never in the plan to clad the east and west stands. But the cladding that is there above the terraces will be high. If you're six foot 5 for example and stood at the back you won't be able to see over the town. There will be sheeting behind you. This sheeting doesn't go all to the top as can be seen on the pictures etc at present.

These stands may be fully cladded (like the North) in forseeable.

    Hope that helps.

I don't come on here all the time but if you have any questions please drop me a line on info@saintsrlfc.com

It's unacceptable. I bet they still manage to put panelling on the boardroom walls.

When you are cost cutting there are some areas that you don't cost cut from because they detract from the quality of the product. Keeping the fans dry on a terrace fans have paid good money for on that basis should not be one of the cost cutting exercises.

I can understand it on the East because it's not subjected to the prevailing winds and won't be an issue, but the West, no.

In reality, expensive coloured cladding and fancy curves takes up most of the expense. If the cladding costs were so excessive because of those reasons then they should have been the first to bite the bullet. There were definitely much cheaper options than the ones used that could have done the job just as well. Aesthetics should not be given priority over fundamental construction basics if you haven't got money to burn.

Warrington's ground was much cheaper but at least they have their stands fully covered.

NB. Just seen SMM's post. Now if there is cheap sheeting going up to the top (give or take a foot) instead of the cladding then that's perfectly acceptable but if there is a huge couple of metres gap then it's not.
