Woo-hoo!!! It's finally happening!!!
Bang goes bagging each individual piece.
After all this time, getting to know all those warehouses personally (thanks for the pic Mr GF), it seems a shame they have to go
Not
It also looks like they're getting set to drain the big swimming pool but I can't see where all the water is going to go

They will probably pump it into a few sewage trucks. It is foul water and cant be released into the environment
Mrs G said she could see the water spraying through the roof then this thing broke through , she couldnt work out what it was till this bloody great arm started ripping chunks out of the roof , most of the middle section is off the warehouse when i drove past about 6 last tight

I've never been so pleased to see a bit of demolition taking place.
It's been a long time coming but things are a happening!!!
Oooh it's all too much.
Progress at last
The boards talked about earlier on have now been used to form a compound right opposite our office. Portakabins are now in place, but my view is all but blocked by the new fencing. So i'll report on as much as I can see.

Eventually them boards will be erected right round the whole site and painted blue. Similar to the fence that was around the new whiston hospital.
Second roof almost down, more porta cabins arrived at dinner time.
Srap wagons are leaving at regular intervals, looks like they are retaining the outside walls to keep the asbestos fibre's contained.
This is the last play, Long, kicks it wide to Iro, Iro to Hall, Hall is trapped, back it goes to Hoppe, over the shoulder to Hall, there is Jonkers, here is Long and Long fancies it, Long fancies it, it's wide to West, it's wide to West, Dwayne West, inside to Joynt, Joynt, JOYNT, JOYNT!, OH, OH!
They've won it, they've won it, they've won it. Chris Joynt; Chris Joynt has won it. It is unbelievable here, it is, frankly, unbelievable. Chris Joynt has won the match for St Helens.
The portakabins are painted white with a red stripe around them like the old 60's kit. Lots of activity today, but I feel sorry for the security guy, he's got no hut and was out in all that rain yesterday. He just leans against the barrier near the old warehouses lol

Some people have talked about opening up the railway line and making a stop near the new ground.
This is the current state of the line. It would take a lot of work to get this line back up and running.
Pics taken from near Matalan
Before anyone asks, NO I DIDNT TRESPASS ON THE RAILWAY
It is a terrible shame it has been left to fall into that state as the level of investment to get it back to workable is probably going to be too much for anyone to do... I did notice that Pilks are trying to sell off land around Cowley Hill/City Road for apartments with rail links I'd imagine they are in similar states so maybe in the future someone might think its worth it.
It would have been great to have a stop right at the stadium especially considering a big part of the application was for public transport use, connecting the junction line to town centre (joining Yorkshire and Warrington) would have been useful and special rugby trains would be fun.
Great to see demo work going on, be better in a few weeks when the buildings have all gone and things will really start taking shape
Great to see the umerous photos posted for all to keep us up to date with developments. Personally, being so far away the potos provide a great method of visualizing the site. Interesting to see the statue from the old Anderton house, that was removed from there when I worked for British Coal all those years ago, good to see it where it belongs, in St Helens where the ASL was invented and first used.
As for the photos of the railway line, compared to NZ standards it could be used tomorrow......keep up the good work all you photographs
