KNOWSLEY ROAD 1890-2010. A part of history soon to be no more...the place that meant so much to so many people. Farewell old lady, forever in our hearts.
Nope. Went up myself and took some pics about an hour or so ago and it would seem my informants misinformed me! They weren't half digging up where the big screen used to be. Digging is also starting on the Knowsley Road side. No idea why they are digging holes there, unless to simply release the concrete, but they are. I would imagine within the next fortnight a lot of the place will be down. There is an awful lot of activity going on at the Dunriding Lane end.
I see they have left the big red V on top of the old clubhouse I thought they were going to sell it
I was always taught to respect my elders,
but it keeps getting harder to find one!
I am a nobody, and nobody is perfect;
therefore I am perfect
Anybody know if the auction site for the sale of KRd memorabilia is still going? Can't find a link for it anywhere.
Here you go mate, you're welcome to it:

Not been any lots this year though from what I can see.
The main stand will be coming down within the next week. Apparently it is going to be dismantled and recycled so there won't be a wrecking ball job. The concrete is going to be used as hardcore, as on our new site.
I thought I heard noises in the main stand when I walked past earlier and it would seem the builders were ripping out the seats. They have also started digging up the pitch to make space for the machinery.
Could you buy a house on the site? I don't think I could ever take a dump if my house stood where the hallowed turf once was.
PLenty of them. I own a flat at the side of the black bull, bought it before it was built, due to take aroudn 12 months to complete, and it took about 2 years or more as they found a ruddy huge mine shaft that took a fair auld while to fill in.... didnt bothe rme like as the price I bought the flat for was a lot less than what they sold them for when the development was done... some big holes in that area though.
Some photos from today.

A couple of pics from inside the ground

How have you managed to get them pics when they won't let people near.
Was over on Saturday from Yorkshire and drove down Dunriding Lane to have a look; very sad to see the demolition but although Knowsley Rd had character in spades, she had got shabby and run down and was no longer up to the job.
I only hope that the new Saints stadium has some sense of individuality about it and isn't just another identikit modern football stadium.
I can't look at this thread anymore it's breaking my heart
The above pictures are absolutely heartbreaking....
Took my first drive past at the weekend, hells fire I felt sick seeing the auld asbestos girl in such a state, really did make me sad... but then I thought about 75 - 0 and the fact I had been on the pitch, had many great memories and it sort of perked me up a bit.... its really happening, I thought we wouldnt do it, and move back in for 2012 but with flushing bogs on the ground and colour TV in the boardroom.
SHE'S GONE !
