I was doing alright but when you hear this, the feeling of sadness comes over you. It'll soon be over now!

It's not really hit me yet that KR is no more, I think it will only be when I am not driving down Duke Street on A Friday night but going somewhere else that is not called home.

Some more photos of the decaying Knowsley Rd ground. It really is looking sad now. I have plenty more images and I will post some of them on here. But if anyone wants a particular view of the ground, perhaps taken from the area that you used to view Saints matches from I may be able to help.Just send me a P.M. and if I have the view you would like I can email it to you.

Murgatroyd. They are great. That 1st picture is very much like the one on the front of the programme in the late 1960's when I started watching Saints and brings back many boyhood memories.

    Default only thinking

Just looking at the latest pictures of the old girl, and being down on the south coast this is all I can do, just had a thought. Now call me old fashioned, but when I was a lad (back in the 70's) my grandad had me out cutting the grass, weeeding his paths etc. every few weeks. The latest pictures of the ground aprt from the obvious concrete decay and general old age of the premises, the greenery is remarkably subdued! You had a really harsh one up ther or something or do weeds etc stop growing in town during the winter? Would love to be there to stand outside the ground, close my eyes and remember......Running out as a schoolboy, scoring a couple of trys in lancashire schools games, and going for 'trials' like every other schoolboy in the town. God bless her, always remember, always miss.

I just went down to Knowsley Rd this morning .There were about half dozen workmen in yellow tops not doing anything.I got told by one that i wasnt allowed inside the railings but i could talk to the manager to see if he would allow me to enter to take photos but i declined.I just made a short film on the camera to help me remember it by.

    ..

That's quite a special photo. Having been lucky enough to play a few games at Knowsley Road that was the view of the ground that you got coming out of the changing rooms and walking up the tunnel. Just a chink of light from afar and the partial view of the Eddy End until you came out of the entrance and the ground opened up before you. Love it, makes the hairs on the neck stand on end.

My thoughts exactly. Only played their once and at the time I did not appreciate it as hyped up for a game but looking at that shot makes me realise what I missed or maybe I should say I did in my youth

First time I ran out onto the pitch (semi final of the Ellison Cup against Parr Central) it was only a part tunnel with the score board above it, the rest was open iron railings either side..... Marvellous.................... very sad.

Popular Side Terrace. With view of T.V.gantry.

    Pitch view from popular side.

Full length view of popular side.

Some views of the popular side which I suspect that is where a lot of Saints fans on here used to watch the match from.

I use to stand under the tv gantry, near the 40yard line. It was a great view when you didn't have someone taller than you standing infront, lol

Yup. I used to stand just the other side of the first patch of yellow stripes from the Eddy End, behind the second railing, just below a hole in the roof. I was following a family tradition that went back as far as my great Granddad.

Fantastic photos btw. Thanks for sharing them.

Ahh! and to quote Mary Hopkins - Those were the days my friend. We thought they'd never end, we'd sing and dance etc. Sadly they have but what beautiful memories we have of the old girl.

Is it true there are now security guards on site? If there are, are they letting people in to take photos?
