That is extreme but it does give perspective of what is happening!

Moving on was always the best thing to do for obvious reasons, but I still feel a little guilty and I don't know why!

When Maine Road was knocked down it was sad but I never pine for the ground. What I do miss is the streets surrounding the place, the sense of generations of fans having been walking round those same streets on match day, just the old routine really.

I occasionaly pop down there and even though there is no ground, it's still there, that magical feeling of being that place I went to when I was a child is still there.

With Knowsley Road it can be the same. Walk down from town, pop in the Bull, head to the Crispy Cod. Unless they bulldoze the entire area, it will still get the old goose bumps rising.

I thought Voll would have had one named after him.

Some quite breathtaking photos here from an external site, sad but good quality of the demolition.

Something to do with the telecommunications contract once that had run out, but sure it's mentioned on here that was meant to be end of April beginning of May time. Maybe they're gonna renovate it and make it into a one of a kind house

Some of them looks like they finished work, clocked out and left everything in place. Even leaving glasses behind the bar.. MAD...

From my understanding, that's exactly as it happened and that's why the photos look more like the aftermath from a hurricane rather than a planned demolition.

Similar to a job on Manchester airport when terminal 1 was demolished. I caught the scousers ****ing all over the Matt Buzby fountain prior to them ripping it apart. I think they'd have done it for free.

The place looked like they'd all just got up and left the gaff. Ashrays full and half finished drinks etc, really wierd.

When I came up earlier in the year, one of the workmen was telling me it's like we had been evicted and then the demolishing started. There was still old stock left behind as well by all accounts.

How Knowsley Road is looking these days

KNOWSLEY ROAD 1890-2010. A part of history soon to be no more...the place that meant so much to so many people. Farewell old lady, forever in our hearts.

I was told yesterday that difficulties are arising demolishing the remains of the family stand because of bats. Not sure how true that is like.

I'd believe it to be very true, the story I heard back in March was the pop side was full of them and so couldn't be demolished until after breeding season, or some sort of wildlife protection red tape.

That would make sense to me. Bats are a protected species, and anyone found to have killed any will face a jail term.

Looks like they moved from the pop to the main stand (or the person who first told me about bats wasn't completely accurate).

If that's the case then it will be at least September before they could demolish it. Mother had bats in her loft and as stated nothing could be done about it, but was told once September had been, they would go off elsewhere then the council would come in and sort out where they had got in from.

They could still sell the main stand to Leeds.
