Default St Helens 10k Run - 20th March

St Helens 10k Run Sunday 20th March

Over the past 6 months the Steve Prescott Foundation have been working closely with St Helens Council on securing a 10k Run in St Helens for the local community and running enthusiasts to participate.
Inspirational Steve Prescott MBE is very passionate about the run “We have been looking into the prospect of a run for quite some time. Many surrounding areas have already successfully organised races of this kind and I feel that St Helens could benefit from having one of its own. This year I was honoured to launch the Men’s Health Forum. Their aim is to get a million people more active and lead a healthier lifestyle; this 10k Run will give men and women in our area the opportunity to play their part towards achieving this goal. The Event will not only benefit the Steve Prescott Foundation, but we are also looking into the prospect of you being able to raise much needed funds for other local charities that serve the St Helens Community. Hopefully the run will be a focus for many people’s new year’s resolution”
Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Culture, Communications and Town Centre Councillor Barrie Grunewald, said: “We’re delighted that the run is going ahead.
“I’m sure it will provide a major boost to Steve’s fantastic fundraising efforts – and help to focus a lot of people on the benefits of a healthier lifestyle.”

By January 10th a dedicated website will be in place with Entry Forms, Information and Training plans.
The route of the Run will take in North Road and Victoria Park, it will be challenging, but will give participants a real sense of achievement.

    A Suggestion:

Being somewhat overweight myself, I am probably the sort of person The Mens Health Forum are looking to target. If others on here are in the same boat why don't we organise a Redvee team to enter the Run?

It will give us something to train towards, lose some weight and of course raise some money for the cause into the bargain.

Although I have done 1/2 Marathons and a marathon in the past, I would be starting from scratch as I a haven't done anything like this for 3 or 4 years, so if you are as unfit as me, or have never done anything like this before why not give it a try?

    Hi Buddy

Dave Howarth is getting together a Crew of 50 to run, have a word with Dave.

Many of them will be Red Vee members.

The limit is 1500, if we get anywhere near this mark we will be elated!

I will let you know if this is likely.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if you did get the 1500 - There are a lot of people talking about this so if everybody who says they are going to run it actually signs up then you may well get a full house.

Don't use the black lacy bra as it chafes your skin under your arm, the red teddy is comfy tho.

There was a glitch on the Booking Website earlier.

I am pleased to say this has now been rectified.

    Sorry for any inconvenience.

Enrolled! The best bit was 'what time to you expect to finish'! Might have been a little optimistic there! :-)

Well, they did say they would be helping Steve Prescott so that means you will have to help Steve Prescott as well.
