Lytham Festival was good but had to carefully pick a spot as the sound was hampered by strong cross winds coming off the sea. Support band Vivas were usual indie style fodder. Def Leppard worked their way through their greatest hits very fluently. Motley Crue cranked the energy up with their high octane style and rolled back quite a few years for me.

Decided that every now and then you have to seize an opportunity and mine was to see KISS at Manchester Arena. Especially as a combo of deals saw me get 3 tickets for the price of 1.75 in the upper tier directly overlooking the stage. Taking the two other tickets were Daughter 1 who went to Lytham with me and Daughter 3 going to her first gig.

Support band Skindred really warmed the place up and had everyone bouncing, I wasn't that familiar with their stuff beforehand but liked what they did.

As for KISS - legendary in every sense. They came on stage at 8:55 and played for two hours. Pyros, flame boxes, rising platforms, fire breathing, flying Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons spitting blood, and a guitar smashed up at the end. They're all pensioners but they know how to put on a show.

Talking of pensioners, next up is The WHO on Friday at our place, with UB40 in support. The wife and daughter 1 also going to this one.

    Looking forward to next year:

Rick Wakeman at Liverpool Phil in February - classic Yes in the first half, Journey to the Centre of the Earth in full in the second half. Going with daughter 2 who's a lot more serene than the others.

Foo Fighters at LCC, Manchester, with daughter 1 - although I think daughter 3 has her eye on blagging my ticket.

Ocean Colour Scene in London on 16th Dec, looking forward to that. It's worked out brilliant as Sheff United are at Chelsea that day.

The wife has managed to catch covid. Although she's not lost her ability to buy pointless, expensive crap, and then proceed to tell me about it. FML.

Yes, very good. I was hoping she'd catch a North Atlantic Drift at one point.
