    Default Sin Binning

After the persistent penalties against Quins on Saturday in the first half - a lot of them, according to the radio agiainst the same player - I was wondering why somebody wasn't getting 10 mins extra rest. Then I started thinking back over the season and I can't think of many examples, or any to be truthful, (Saints + televised games) where someone has gone to the bin for technical offences; particularly holding down. Is it my dodgy memory or is this a trend?

The above stats are taken from the SL website for the '09 season, http://www.superleague.co.uk/statist...=2009&hp2=1720
the only problem is that they don't show what the cards where for.

You're right in saying that there haven't been many examples (obviously). So, the question should be, are refs being more lenient, or, have the clubs really tightened up on technical offences?

Looking at the stats on the Superleague website

    Yellow Cards
2007 44 after 27 rounds plus presumably playoffs
2008 35 after 27 rounds plus presumably playoffs
    2009 22 so far after 22 rounds

make of that what you will...

There is far more messing around allowed at the play the ball area for one. That was previously a binning offence.

    Hi
I was at the quins match & 3 times he brought out the quins captain about offences, but did nothing about a yellow card. At one time you only got 1 warning.
