I would doubt there are many games where some sort of "freebies" aren't given out, be it to amateur clubs, schools or just as prizes in competition.
I know Warrington offer them every week to junior clubs in the area.
But so what? does it matter? If the club can afford it then where is the problem?
I think the original point of the thread was complaining about Sky's parroting of a Wigan marketing slogan. Nobody can slag off Wigan for getting 20k in on Friday and if they want to call it 'The Big One' then really its not got much to do with us, fair play to them.
But once the ground is full and the game starts I think the term should have been left to the Wigan marketing dept and Sky really should have left it alone, for the main reason that they made themselves sound stupid promoting a regular season game between 5th and 2nd as somehow massively important.
Great for Wigan and their fans, full marks to them, but Sky had no business backing them up by parroting their slogan.
That's like saying, Sky should never say, "never write off saints when they're behind", because whilst they pulled some great comebacks off in the past, this side doesnt have the pace or flair to do this anymore.
Sky's job is to promote the game and make it sound as exciting as possible.
For me they can say whatever they want as it doesnt affect anything and I think your fans (that are moaning) are very sad to be honest
Jeeze, people moan when Sky do nowt for the game, they moan when they do something for it.
Wigan Leeds is currently like Saints Bradford used to be. A date for the rugby calender of two sides who seem to step up the intensity against each other.
I got a card through my door promoting next weeks game from Saints so I will be very upset if Sky don't call that game
"This Season's Summer Blockbuster!"
That was a good one yesterday, was gutted for Hull when that try was called forward.
The build up and passing back and forth were so good it was definitely 'morally' a try and anyway it absolutely was a try, nowhere near forward.
And the Leeds games atmospheres were very good, also the Wire one at the beginning and the Pies one at the Latics place
Looking forward to Friday immenseley, hope Hoss Voice of an Angel is up to par lol
My two penneth:
1. A great marketing campaign by Wigan
2. SKY were fine referring to it as the 'big one, as Wigan have marketed it', rather than just 'the big one' and they did this the majority of the time so I've no real issue with it

And don't forget we can't play in wet conditions either. lol
