Would anyone like Kallum on loan for a while to cover Percival?
How long was Percival out for?
Hope we’re enquiring... could be a massive pick up and will probably be taking a wage cut. Can’t see him going back to Leeds with Newman and Hurrell.
busted flush. Injuries have taken their toll on him.
He has serious issues and the last thing on his mind would be rugby.
Not for me.
Best days are behind him. Very good centre though for a number of seasons. Proper strike centre
He's signing for Toronto I've read on twitter this morning.
Only in Rugby League could a player return to the UK through home sickness (albeit on compassionate grounds) and sign for a 'Canadian' club
I think he still has a lot to offer. A good signing for Toronto.
He would have to go somewhere to be a starter and we don't particularly have any obvious weakness in our backline.
Apparently he's come home because his Dad has this virus so I don't really think we should be speculating on his future.
Confirmed signing for Toronto now.
Just a mess all round. It was never going to work out for him in the NRL. His last two seasons in Super League were a calamity, he just never returned after his most recent serious injury the same player. Then to come home because his father has coronavirus and then sign for Toronto doesn't make sense. Sure in the short term it'll mean he can stay at home with his father, but in a month when he's hopefully fit and healthy, or not, where does that leave him? He could have just asked Gold Coast for a month's leave? Toronto are getting a player who isn't Super League standard if the last few years are anything to go by and I can't help but wonder how his signing is going to go down. Toronto are the first club to cynically use the pay cuts for players to slide another signing in under the salary cap, I'm sure there will be more but surely the existing players will be wondering why they are having to take a pay cut when the club are signing more players? I'm sure Warrington and Wigan and other clubs will also will be looking to exploit this as well, but it doesn't sit right with me at all.
I've rewritten the above several times and it still reads quite cold. Just want to caveat this by saying I hope everything works out for Kallum in terms of his father's health if those reports were accurate and also his career. He's not signing for Wigan, so wish him well ;)
I’m not sure that signing for Toronto is really an issue in terms of his father’s health. The likelihood is that there won’t be any games for a few more weeks by which time his father will, hopefully, have recovered from Covid-19. Or not....
Funny one, this. There's no doubt that Watkins when fit and firing is a class act, but he looked absolutely finished in his last season at Leeds - he had no lateral mobility at all and players were just strolling past him. I was amazed that the Titans picked him up and I can see why Leeds cashed in. But then you never know with these things - perhaps there were just complications in his recovery and the lack of mobility isn't a permanent thing. If that's the case then he'll be a great signing for Toronto, but it's a huge risk, assuming he isn't on peanuts.
