"It's this, basically...."

You hear people who can't put a sentence together without using the B-word, sometimes more than once. What is it with these people? What use does this word have?

Basically, they •••• me off. Basically.

I admit I'm guilty of overusing the word 'absolutely' or 'sure' when agreeing with someone. :o Perhaps I need to study a thesaurus.

I can cope with that but not when it's used in the wrong context and that's everywhere these days e.g. "It was absolutely very hard"

The worst ones are the sky sports newsisms that the robots on there continually spout out, such as saying "ahead of" every other sentence, drives me mad

Personally, I prefer the, "you know", phrase, as you wouldn't be asking if you knew!!!
