That was '97
1996 was the old blue white striped shirt
1998/9 was the orange and teal mizuno all with McEwans as sponsor
2000 was the blue white hooped Exito one with St Helens Glass sponsors
I think the confusion arises because we retained that awful car seat mizuno home shirt for 1997/8 but changed the away shirt after one season from the two tone blue to the teal and orange, which we kept for two seasons. 1999 being the last year we were sponsored by Scottish and Newcastle with John Smiths on the home shirt.

I think the original idea was to change shirts every other year ie home shirt was used in 97/98 & the away shirt 98/99 and then our sponsorship ended and the club had to change both when St. Helens Glass came on the scene.

Sales were then that good of both it has since been an annual event to change both shirts and this income line has proved invaluable to the club

It might not be a brilliant pic but I can still recognise Paul Forber, Shane Cooper & Phil Veivers - top-tastic taches!

Where are Shane and Paul now and what are they doing? (I'm not making any comments about what Phil Veivers is doing now!)

not sure about cooper, likely to be back in NZ?
my dad came across Forber working at a bulding site in St Helens a few years back.

But isn't forber really dwyer/groves in that picture number 9 on the arm. although to be fair it looks like neither

My son was born in 1998 and so the one on the picture is not the 1998 shirt. I bought him the away shirt and hung it up in ther hospital.

I think you've mis-understood this mate.

The shirt from '98 is the one on the link which I posted on page 1 of this thread, the picture shown here is from '89-'91 as stated at the bottom of that page also!

Can't remember this one, probably because I was only a kid at the time and didn't get to many away games at that age. But, I think this would also make a one off retro special as well.

Never seen that one before, very wakefield trinity or french, unusual and would be a great addition to my collection, as would teh NZ tour shirt we had, and an adults sized st helens glass cotton red vee 1985 shirt, mine is a boys size :(

Saints wore this in the very early 80s. I remember Workington coming to KR for a match that Stan Wall reffed. They forgot their kit and played in this Sts away kit.

im sure you could make your own authentic coors shirt.
my recollection of that 92 boxing day game was that it was just a piece of stiched on coors white material over the current mckewans sponsor. Most likely picked off by some poor sod for a game in January.

Maybe i've developed this view from the embarrassing Sunday league effort we turned out in for the boxing day challenge game in 99.
