I can not believe that no one has picked probably the greatest player ever to pull on a Saints shirt, in fact probably the only Saints player to get in any "serious" journo's greatest ever side in, " ALEX MURPHY" the greatest scrum half the world has ever seen...
My 17 are as follows :-
1. Paul Wellens
2. Anthony Sullivan
3. Jamie Lyon
4. Paul Newlove
5. Darren Albert
6. Tommy Martyn
7. Alex Murphy
8. David Fairleigh
9. Keiron Cunningham
10. Paul Anderson
11. Chris Joynt
12. Derek Mc Vey
13. Paul Sculthorpe
14. Nick Fozzard
15. Scott Gibbs
16. Sean Long
17. Apollo Perelini

Whoever Quirke is has done well to get the extra spot(s)? of non SL players (with George Mann) also.
Two half backs on the bench is an interesting way to go
Not a bad XIII though

I was inspired by the Booth/Pickavance selection to pick a team of our less-than-greats; same rules apply. Strong presence from the '98 "McRae's run out of ideas" team as they were known.
1 Danny Arnold
2 Joey Hayes
3 Damien Smith
4 Paul Anderson
5 Steve Hall
6 Darrell Trindall
7 Phil Waring
8 Rickey Bibey (Captain, and team mascot)
9 A bad hooker? In the Cunningham era? Certainly not.
10 Bryan Henare
11 Heath Cruckshank
12 Simon Booth
13 Dean Busby
14 Andy Haigh
15 Chris Smith
16 Dwayne West (famous soundbite moment excepted)
17 Vila Matautia*
*for all he was a fans favourite, he was also a bloody liability.
So I'm struggling for a hooker and my bench has too many backs. Any ideas?

Some great picks there, ..apart from the one on drugs, can't believe only one or two picked Tom Van Voll.Went to school with his son Keith and watching him in full stride I'm sure he was a blur-he was that much quicker than anyone else.
Well remembered for Les Quirk........all he ever did was score tries.
What about Harry Pinner ?
