Whilst there's not film threads on here, I thought I'd start one about films, films and films.

Are there any films you can recommend? Whether they are currently on at the cinema or whether they are a classic film, go ahead and recommend it and summarise what it's about.

I watched Run fatboy, run last night. It was quite funny in parts and Simon Pegg plays the lead role well. Typical cheesy ending, but it's more about the comedy really. It's worth a watch if you like laughing.

GREEN MILE 10 out of 10 for me :saint:

The events take place at a death row, the guards call the green mile. The story is a layered, rather character-driven fantasy tale of the events that transpire at "the mile" after the arrival of a giant man, John Coffey (Michael Duncan), convicted of the murder of two small girls. Actually this is not one single story, but several tied together seamlessly.

A character-driven movie requires a lot from the cast, and fortunately when it comes to cast, The Green Mile delivers. As the poster of the movie tells, this movie stars Tom Hanks as Paul Edgecomb, senior prison guard of the mile, and as always he performs very well indeed. Yet the cast around him is even more spectacular, perhaps partially due to them being relatively unknown. With a face you know, one inevitably remembers previous performances, and the new role is coloured by this. Doug Hutchison as Percy Wetmore, a mean spirited prison guard was particularly impressive, yet his character could have been given more depth. The most captivating was the performance of Michael Duncan.

It is hard to find a flaw in this movie. The camerawork is superb, cast wonderful and direction flawless. The movie's considerable length, a bit over three hours, is something that had me worried. Yet the marvellous cast and the peaceful yet firm pace of the movie held my attention progressively through the three hours right to the touching culmination. Many will find this movie to be too long, but I for one was delighted of the style, combination of simplicity of events and depth of characters and conversation.

All in all the The Green Mile is a very touching drama, with the joys and sorrows of the life pictured with great skill,

No offence folks, but can we have more than one liners? A bit of a description on the film at least. What's it about? Who's in it? What genre of film is it? Rate it, etc.

Anchorman , the legend of ron burgandy .

So So funny !!!! 10/10 from me !!!

This has got to be Will Ferrells best ever film. I dont reckon it will be beaten by the amount of rib aching comedy in it, full of classic one liners you'll find yourself using again and agian !!!!

70's based newsroom comedy strange but true, featuring will ferrell, paul rudd (that guy from freinds) and steve carrell (40yr old virgin).

If this is a film you have looked at and thought 'that looks stupid' , then get it and watch it , 9 out of 10 poeple will not be disapointed !!!

.........you stay classy redvee ;)

If you fancy watching a classic film from the 50's,try 'A matter of life and death' with David Niven.Quick storyline, 2nd world war pilot gets shot down and somehow falls in love with the girl who answers his mayday call before he crashes. The rest of the film is him in hosptital(filmed in colour) and him in heaven(black and white) trying convince the man up stairs during his court case he should live and get the girl.Lost? I am and ive seen it dozens of times:???: Ive seen most of the so called classics but for me this is the best film ive ever seen,i promise the steps to heaven scenes will be unforgetable and get you thinking if its really like that.WATCH IT!

Mr Vampire

It's on the Hong Kong Legends label. It's got everything, action, horror, humour, a love story and a great cast.

It's easily 9/10, if you see it on the TV schedules make sure you watch it.

City of God. (Brazil)
Old Boy. (Korea)

Two incredible foreign films, subtitled but well worth a watch, although the korean film is a little bit out there.

City of God though, in my top 10 films of all time, great piece of work, great story line, some fantastic settings and most of the people used in the fim actaully live in the Flavellas of Rio. If you have been to Rio then this fims carries even more weight.

Also Bus 174 and Amores Perros if you fancy something different from Hollywood.
