Rugby League experts have selected their greatest ever Grand Final line-up in the build up to Saturday’s mouth watering engage Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford between St. Helens and Leeds Rhinos.

To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Grand Final, the RFL challenged fans to name their ultimate starting line-up made up of players who have played in previous Grand Finals.

Thousands of people took part with the aim of trying to match as many names as possible to those selected by a panel of experts that included Sky Sports’ commentator Stevo, the Independent’s Dave Hadfield, League Weekly’s Danny Lockwood and League Express’ Martyn Sadler.

The Ultimate 13 Grand Final team reflects the success which St. Helens and Bradford Bulls have had in reaching the Grand Final since its inception in 1998.

There are five past and present St. Helens players selected in the team including current full back Paul Wellens and half back Sean Long. Bradford Bulls are represented by six former players which include Jamie Peacock who is expected to play for the Leeds Rhinos on Saturday.

This year’s tenth engage Super League Grand Final between St. Helens and Leeds Rhinos at Old Trafford is seen by many as the perfect final as it features the teams which finished first and second in the final engage Super League table. The teams are closely matched, as demonstrated by St. Helens’ narrow 10-8 victory over the Rhinos in a tight and thrilling encounter on 28 September.

The first Grand Final was played at Old Trafford in 1998 when Wigan beat Leeds 10-4. Since then the event has cemented itself as one of the most important events in the British sporting calendar

How is Leon Pryce not in there?

Playing in 7 out of the 10 you'd think he'd be in.

His MoM performance for the Bulls was enough to put him in somewhere IMO -possible ahead of Lyon at Centre?
